As other reviewers have said ; didn‘t know what to expect from this one , until browsing in Waterstones started chatting to a young lady who was bulk buying this authors works she highly recommended them if fan of fantasy romance & compares to ACOTAR series ; I have 1st 2 kindly sent from #netgalley & #bloomsbury to read and review, and after a round of rather blahreads this is pitch perfect escapism , plus the uk book covers look great as a set

Good. Set in South America this covers not just the tumultuous times the country went through but the tumultuous time the character has been through. Full of passion and heartache.

🎄Christmas Haul Part One with a distinct Bloomsbury theme. I recently bought an annotated Mrs. Dalloway so have some Woolf 2022 reading goals.

Has anyone read either of these? I‘d love to hear your thoughts/reviews on them.

elkeOriginal From the Servants description: “That room of Woolf's own was kept clean by a series of cooks and maids” - OUCH! 2y
elkeOriginal The Servants book looks fascinating! 2y

Jess_Read_This @TrishB Lol- that‘s the story of my life! I have many tagged books but they sit waiting for me to get to them! 2y
Librarybelle Square Haunting is on my to read list…they both look so good! 2y
Jess_Read_This @Librarybelle I thought so too! I love a good below stairs kind of book, so am very intrigued on the Woolf one. And Square Haunting just sounds fascinating to me. 2y

Mehso-so

The book is quite short & I wonder if that contributed to the characters feeling rather remote from the reader. Although the scenes of violence were genuinely horrifying, I didn't feel as if the book fleshed out the feelings & personalities of the MCs. 3⭐

CW: violent scenes, child death, racial slurs.

Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Bloomsbury Publishing UK/Raven Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley #Bloomsbury

Very good. A prior knowledge of this subject is needed when reading this book as even though you are introduced singularly to each major suffragette you need to have a prior understanding who they are and what they did beforehand. This book is heavy with well researched and written comprehension of the subject. Recommended.

TrishB Still on my tbr! 4y
Birdsong28 @TrishB I think when you read it you will have to do it in chunks as it can bog you down a bit. 4y
TrishB I have a couple like that on the go- read a few chapters at a time! 4y
Caroline2 Sounds good and what an awesome cover. 4y

Very good. Even though this is a YA book alot of the themes are adult so it can be read universally. Love rereading this as the last time was when I was a teenager and it still is one of my favourites just as it was back then. Set during the witch trials in both England and America.

This is a surprising debut from a new American author. It might look like a light summer read, but underneath lurks a searing critique of race, class, and good intentions. Such A Fun Age is one for fans of An American Marriage, and other contemporary fiction that tackles the most important questions of our time. Linsy Love this cover! 4y
keepingupwiththepenguins @Linsy Me too! It's the advance review copy, I don't think it ended up being used as the final cover design anywhere, but I think it's gorgeous! 4y
Linsy @keepingupwiththepenguins Yours is the first one I've seen like that! So cool 4y
