Not a big romance reader, so I‘m gonna skip riot grams today, but that‘s alright cause a new book store opened in town last month and I finally visited. It‘s beside a coffee shop!! New and used books AND IT‘S BEAUTIFULLY CURATED!! So many good books! I got two!

Day three #riotgrams picture book. I don‘t have many picture books, I left some of the big things behind when I moved. I did keep this book about a man who digs around New York City and documents what he finds.

VioletBramble I am friendly with Scott Jordan‘s brother and sister in law. We are all Coast Guard Brats who grew up on the same island in NYC. Scott‘s story of how he finds and makes art out of these objects is so interesting 2mo
Augustdana @VioletBramble what a small world!! It‘s a great book with cool finds, love reading about all the neat items. The glass is my favourite. 2mo

Very sad to hear of the passing of Wayson Choy. He came and talked to my English class after we read his book. He stayed after and signed all of our copies. During his talk, I remember him saying something along the lines of: This life we have is so sweet, anything else after is icing on the cake.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I love the way he signed that! 3mo
Augustdana @Riveted_Reader_Melissa me too! He signed over a hundred that morning! 3mo

The story is picking up, some harrowing scenes of survival and brutality, as well as some great questions about spirituality and sexual identity. I was thinking about this book a lot today at work, hoping to finish in the next few days.

It‘s a fun idea, but I don‘t think I‘ll be able to handle this. I‘ve got authors in various places and I may be a little too anal.

Emilymdxn I tried putting my books in colour order, gave up halfway through and now they‘re in odd mini gradients with some shelves bothering with the system and some not. It‘s a bit of a mess but I quite like that absolutely no one can find anything other than me... someone will ask me for a book and I have to be like ‘I had that at uni, it‘s quite tall and brown, so it‘ll be on this shelf!‘, makes me feel like a wizard 4mo
Augustdana @Emilymdxn AMAZING!! 🤣🤣 that is a lot of power to wield. Maybe I will keep this around for a while 4mo

Scenes from a move in progress. I recently donated about forty books, and man, I should have purged more. Any tips would be most welcome. Right now books are going in the bottom of every single box and bag I‘m filling up. To distribute the weight.

Elma Liquor stores have the perfect size boxes for books. Not so big that they become too heavy. 6mo

The Library Book | Susan Orlean

It wasn‘t that time stopped in the library. It was as if it were captured here, collected here, and in all libraries-and not only my time, my life, but all human time as well...the library is a gathering pool of narratives and of the people who come to find them. It is where we can glimpse immortality; in the library, we can live forever.
