Pickpick

This was my #LMPBC book this month and my #AuthorAMonth2020 pick. I liked it. Christie is a lot more funny than I expected before reading her books, and I think I like Poroit better than Miss Marple.

@MaleficentBookDragon I‘ll mail it after Christmas

Agatha Christie is amazing. She leads you through the mystery, and you trust her, and then BAM she pulls the rug out, or opens a concealed door to what should‘ve been seen all along! Love her! #authoramonth2020 #bookspinbingo #wintergames2020 #teamreadnosedreindeer 16pts #readmyowndamnbooks

TheAromaofBooks I LOVE the way that everything you need to know to solve this one is RIGHT THERE, you just don't realize that you aren't looking at the puzzle the right direction until the very end. This one was just fabulously plotted all the way through. 3y
Sarahreadstoomuch @TheAromaofBooks exactly! It‘s brilliant!! 3y

Evil Under the Sun | Agatha Christie

Pickpick

In Devon, Agatha Christie‘s home county, among the scantily clad sunbathers, a murdered woman is found.

It was not unusual to find the beautiful bronzed body of the sun-loving Arlena Stuart stretched out on a beach, face down. Only, on this occasion, there was no sun… she had been strangled. Poirot chases murder mysteries no matter where he travels...this was fun!

Mehso-so

1922–the Great War is over, and jobs are scarce. Childhood friends Tommy Beresford and Prudence "Tuppence" Cowley meet and agree to start their own business as The Young Adventurers. “No (un)reasonable offer refused!” It was a challenge keeping up with all the characters and subplots—I had to watch the Amazon Prime video to get it all sorted; so between a Pick and So-so

TheAromaofBooks I had always liked this book just fine, but a few years ago I was actually reading a bunch of nonfiction about WWI & its aftermath & happened to reread this book at the same time - I was amazed at how those crazy side plots of random spies & whatnot all made SO much more sense within the context of when the book was published. Some of her books have aged better than others!! 3y
Eggs @TheAromaofBooks oh how fascinating! I too have noticed the timeless factor of human nature in her character portrayals and conflicts. Tommy & Tuppence were quite a pair though not as well known as Poirot and Marple. 3y

When a priceless ruby, belonging to a Far Eastern prince, is stolen from him whilst he is on a visit to England, Poirot is asked to make a quiet investigation. The ruby was destined for the prince‘s bride-to-be and a scandal must be avoided. Another fun Poirot mystery-fun to life stem to while wrapping gifts 🎁

Murder of Roger Ackroyd | Agatha Christie
post image
Pickpick

This is rated as one of the top murder mysteries written by AC. It‘s a good one-largely because of the author‘s use of surprise literary devices. Can‘t say much more without spoiling it, but who killed Roger Ackroyd?

vlwelser This book totally changed the way I read other books. It might be my favorite. 3y
Eggs Yes it is transformative @vlwelser 3y
TheAromaofBooks It's especially fun when you think about how innovative this was for the time - I read somewhere that it caused quite the uproar as to whether or not she had “cheated“ - but I maintain that all the clues you need are there if you know how to see them!! 3y

Only my second Christie.😳

I liked it a lot—great assortment of characters and a wonderful twist, well-written and delightfully mysterious.

All of that said, the audiobook made this an experience... Dan Stevens is always fantastic, but he‘s incredible narrating this book! It‘s like listening to a full cast as he reads with a different voice for each character. Every time he said HERCULE POIROT I was 👏🏻. Absolutely savored the audio!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

sprainedbrain This was my #classic for #MandMChallenge2020 @BarbaraTheBibliophage and also I FINALLY read a book in the right month for #AuthorAMonth2020! 😅 @Soubhiville 3y
Mishu94 Unfortunately I watched the movie first and I didn‘t read the book! It was amazing!!!! 3y

mom2bugnbee Dan Stevens is AMAZING in this version. Absolutely amazing. 3y
AlaMich This one is a classic too! 3y
Mishu94 @sprainedbrain I watched the movie before so can‘t read the book now, since I know what‘s going to happen 😂 3y

It‘s Christmas Eve and old man Lee is found murdered in his room. Hercule must sort it all out among the family members who, being summoned home for Christmas, are staying on the premises. It seems everyone in the family might have motive...
