#2022Book6
I have loved Anne of Green Gables since I first watched the Megan Follows mini-series when I was five. I also binge-watched Anne with an E on Netflix and loved every minute of it. So to say I was excited to read this book about Anne Shirley's early life is an understatement. Wilson did an amazing job of capturing Anne's spirit and giving readers insight into everything she experienced before finding a home with the Cuthberts.

I know some people don‘t enjoy book 4 in the AOGG books as much as the others, but I love this one. Maybe because I love books written in epistolary format (would have LOVED to see some letters from Gilbert to Anne!). There are so many interesting characters and lots of laughs. I adore this series and it‘s so perfect for when you really need an escape from harsh reality. 5⭐️

sblbooks Like you mentioned in your review; My main complaint with that book is that we only saw Anne's letters. 3w
SayersLover I always loved book 4 myself. The “Anne transformations” (AKA in herself and among her friends) are along more mature lines and I really enjoyed that aspect even from a younger age. @JenlovesJT47 3w

I did a mini buddy read of this with @BarbaraJean as sort of a supplement for the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead - I read this a couple of years ago but I thought now was the perfect time to try the #audiobook since I‘m still going through the AOGG series. I love this and would recommend it to any and all Anne fans. It‘s fun to see Marilla‘s friendship with Rachel Lynde grow over the years. The narrator is very good. 5⭐️

Nikki_E I have the audiobook and can‘t wait to listen to it. Marilla is such an interesting character. 3w
JenlovesJT47 @Nikki_E she really is! There‘s another book about Marilla that came out recently, I hope to get to it soon. 3w
merelybookish I gave this to my mum for Christmas so glad to hear you liked it. 3w
BarbaraJean I finally picked it up at Christmas and finished just before New Year‘s! I still need to post my review…🤦🏻‍♀️ I really enjoyed this imagining of Marilla‘s past and the way the author developed Rachel & Matthew as well as Marilla. Lots of interesting historical details, too. I hadn‘t thought about the timing of this story with slavery/Civil War—fascinating to see that context across the border in Canada, while following these characters. 3w

I loved this reread. My adult mind picked up on plot elements ten year old me glossed over. I found myself loving Marilla in this novel. She became more of a person to me. Her sense of humor is dry and wry- which always makes me laugh. I love how Montgomery really developed her as a character in this novel vs. the first one.

The seasonal themes were lovely to read as well. A favorite series.

I‘m slowly reading through all these books. While I enjoyed the first three books I thought this one was pretty long. I *almost* bailed on this book. 3/5 ⭐s #ebook

Book 3 is already a wrap! This might be my favorite so far. It‘s been 10 years since I read the series so I‘ve forgotten a lot of things, but I do remember that book 4 was my favorite and I can‘t wait to dive into it. 5⭐️

I was a bit disappointed by this. Only two stories included Anne, and they were both retreaded excerpts from the novel series. The other stories became quite redundant. Too many of the other tales involved a family struggling at Christmas time and another family stepping in to give them a big holiday meal and/or estranged relatives coming together at Christmas time. A bit more variety would have helped!

TheAromaofBooks I enjoy a lot of Montgomery's short stories, but because they are so frequently gathered into “themed“ collections, I think they can get rather same-y. 2mo

I was SUPPOSED to read the AOGG series for the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead but didn‘t quite make it. But after finishing the Emily series and Chronicles of Avonlea, I decided I was going to read the series anyway, and committed to reading a chapter or 2 a day. Lo and behold, I got sucked in and finished book 1 already! There is something so comforting about this series and it really does give you the warm fuzzies. I‘m excited because I haven‘t ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Read the whole series in 10 years. But I never get tired of these stories. ❤️5⭐️ 2mo
BarbaraJean 💜These are such comfort reads for me, too!! 2mo

Finally, Anne agrees to marry Gilbert and Trix and I can be happy and read the rest of the series when she is a little older. Being a helpless romantic, she was convinced from the moment Gilbert appeared that Anne would marry him, but Roy Gardiner did have her scared for a little while. Davey, as always, provided some comic relief.

I wish I could have posted more because this was highly quotable, but I was driving for the majority of this book. Another solid Anne book. Also I second Rebecca Dew “Only do not expect too much of a man.” 😇 I am 10 hours down from Day 1! #33by33

Texreader That‘s a beautiful cover 2mo
MatchlessMarie @Texreader I think this series of artwork is my favorite from the many Anne covers I have seen so far 2mo
