I read this as a teenager and loved it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the rest of the trilogy.

BookwormAHN I had the same problem 💜🐈‍⬛💜 2w

I recommend The Witching Hour by Anne Rice as a possible October read. It‘s been around awhile, and has a TV series, but the book is different. I‘m a lifelong horror fan, but this book unsettled me more than any other horror book I‘ve read. So if you are looking for actual creeps and chills this spooky season, you might give it a try!

Exit to Eden | Anne Rice
Mehso-so

Sometimes this book got at what it was reaching for, and sometimes it was clouded by 80s conceptions and language, and sometimes it sank like a stone under the exoticising racism and transphobia of something written by a rich white lady from New Orleans. A roller coaster, to be sure.

Exit to Eden | Anne Rice

I will say this about this weirdly constructed book - the vacation interlude sure makes me want to take a rich fuck vacation, a thing that I will -never- be able to do

I liked this more second time around (first read about 20 years ago) but definitely the weakest of the vampire chronicles so far. Theological musings really not my thing, looking forward to getting back to proper vampire adventures in the next instalment 🤞

Pickpick

The 3rd book of this series, and I only read it because the tv series is starting this fall. I'm not a fan of Anne Rice. This book was 906 pages with a waiting list, so I read it fast. I had 1 hour left on my hold and just finished it. #Read2025 @DieAReader

As lush, dense, and layered as Rice gets. This is her deep dive into the gens de couleur of New Orleans in the years before the Civil War. Melodramatic, broadly populated, and phenomenally detailed. I took my time with this one and read it in chunks, as much as I enjoy Rice's prose I do find I start to drown in it when reading too much at a stretch. The richness of character and setting is well worth the push.

DrSabrinaMoldenReads I loved this book!!! 2mo
