"STARTLING . . . FIENDISH . . . MEMNOCH'S TALE IS COMPELLING."--New York Daily News"Like Interview with the Vampire, Memnoch has a half-maddened, fever-pitch intensity. . . . Narrated by Rice's most cherished character, the vampire Lestat, Memnoch tells a tale as old as Scripture's legends and as modern as today's religious strife."--Rolling Stone"SENSUAL . . . BOLD, FAST-PACED."--USA Today"Rice has penned an ambitious close to this long-running series. . . . Fans will no doubt devour this."--The Washington Post Book World"MEMNOCH THE DEVIL OFFERS PASSAGES OF POETIC BRILLIANCE."--Playboy"[MEMNOCH] is one of Rice's most intriguing and sympathetic characters to date. . . . Rice ups the ante, taking Lestat where few writers have ventured: into heaven and hell itself. She carries it off in top form."--The Seattle TimesFrom the Paperback edition.

1. Probably Anne Rice with Vonnegut a close second.
2. In bed or curled up on the couch.
3. No I don‘t.

I really enjoyed this 5th installment of The Vampire Chronicles. I felt it was a little blasphemous at times but I told myself, self, its just a book. Lol
I give it 4 1/2 out of 5🍪 #allhailprincelestat #thebratprince

"I saw him when he came through the front doors. Tall, solidly built, dark brown hair and eyes, skin still fairly dark because it had been dark when I'd made him a vampire" - Lestat de Lioncourt "Brat Prince"

Ok, but it‘s not really a Lestat book.

Lestat hanging out with the devil is a vehicle for Rice to go on a theological exploration of Christianity. While the ideas are interesting (I didn‘t quit, after all), the story just drug on and really did nothing at all to advance the vampire chronicles story. Then it ends on a note to suggest that everything that came before might have been falsities Memnoch fed Lestat to serve his own agenda. 🙄

⭐️⭐️1/2

EmilyM This was where I quit the series... 5y
Reggie I didn‘t want to say anything when you started your journey but my friend ends up hating Anne Rice after she read all her books. Lol 5y
sprainedbrain @Reggie ha! I‘m not planning to read them all... just the witches, the vampires, and the smutty ones. Not fair that she snuck a religious one in the vampire books. 😂 5y

Very interesting twist on Christian mythology. Anne Rice never ceases to amaze me with her ability to take something so well-known and spin it in a new way. Bravo!

I haven't read this series in ages but I still have all of my hardback Anne Rice books that I started buying in high school and continued collecting for a few years after college. She had a run of books that I did not like at all so I gave up. I have not read any of her more recent work but I have a few ebooks I got on sale that I keep meaning to try. #fallenangel #characters2017

Zelma I have a similar relationship with Anne Rice. This was the book that made me lose interest in the vampire series. 7y
