Freddy Goes to Florida | Kurt Wiese, Walter R. Brooks

Pickpick

This classic story of farm animals who decide to take a break from their regular routine to spend the winter in sunny Florida is charming and much funnier than I'd expected! This is the first in the Freddy the Pig series.

Finished the 7th and final book of In Search of Lost Time. It has taken me a decade to read these books, so an era is over.

In this volume Proust covers WWI in Paris, have quite a discussion on literature and where his inspiration to write this books come from. He also looks at how time changes people, both how they look and who is “in”.

I‘m very undecided about this one, I was partially bored, partially swept up in the thoughts of everyone, & partially impressed that anyone could write anything coherent while caught up in the inner thoughts & second guesses going on in every characters mind. The introspection is at once amazingly done, while also frustrating, following others thoughts as they spiral around in chaotic circles can be quite tiring. So 👍for writing, just not for me

Riveted_Reader_Melissa But even while saying that and admitting it was a frustrating book to read, most of the time, some of the insights and gems about gender inequalities that are brought to the surface when the women were thinking to themselves, I‘m sure were quite remarkable for their time, and sadly still relatable. #Reading1001 #LitsyClassicsAtoZ #1927 #192019 (edited) 6y
LauraJ I‘m with you. While I admire the skill and effort that went into the story, I prefer function over form. 6y
Gezemice I liked it. Enjoyed would not be the right word, but admired it greatly. I did, however, enjoy Mrs Dalloway. I think it is better. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I‘ll keep that in mind, because although I didn‘t ‘love‘ it, I can see the skillful storytelling there, so I do plan on trying some other Woolf. 6y
Gezemice She is amazing, I am planning to read more. The one that everyone should read is The Room of One‘s Own. It is non-fiction and the greatest feminist writing, ever, IMO. 6y

Woot I finished this book with 2 days to spare! I am not a fan of Woolf, I just do not need so much wish washy detail. I am also still struggling with the “pause” feature in bookout, which just does not work. Tonight it skipped from 12 minutes (when I resumed) to 5 hours (6 pages later). If I wasn‘t at home with my family I‘d think I was going cra-cra and losing blocks of time! #reading1001 #192019 #1927
