This book by Catherine Steadman did not disappoint! This book is oozing with twists and turns and the cat and mouse game steaks could not be higher! Nina, the protagonist, must solve a series of riddles that are seemingly left like bread crumbs by her deceased father who was a genius and well-respected professor in England. I had a hard time putting this down. Steadman is becoming one of my favorite authors.
I think this drew me in because of its proximity to where I was when I started it. It takes place in the British Virgin Islands & I was in the US Virgin Islands. I could see the island it took place on from my hammock.
It also had a part in NC which is where I was when I finished it. Wow.
I listened to the audio and it kept my attention & I enjoyed the plot.

This was good company while working on a project at work! I preferred “The Family Game”, but this was a fun ride. 🎧
Solid mystery/thriller that had a few surprises in there even if most of it was somewhat easy to predict. Once I realized what was happening the rest easily fell into place. I still enjoyed the ride, mind you, and thought the challenges faced by the main character were really inventive. Enjoyable read! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This one had a kind of unique twist, but I really enjoyed it! #hauntedshelf #hexesandcrows @Catsandbooks
Happy Publication Day! I have read & enjoyed all of Steadman‘s books, so I was thrilled to dive into her latest thriller. Told in multiple perspectives, set mainly in a technologically state-of-the-art home with a deep secret set in the British Virgin Islands, this one takes a little while to get going. With surprises to the plot, the big reveal fell a little flat for me, making this my least favorite of her books. But still excited for her next!

The letter must have sat unopened for a month on your abandoned hall table as things carried on around it, the correspondence inside quietly waiting for me to find it.
Oh boy. I don't want to give up any spoilers but this is one dark & disturbing read.
Not a mystery, suspense, yes.
Outright scary, yes.
Will you come to fear & doubt the rest of humanity?
Perhaps.
Worth your time but buckle up for the ride. 😨
