The Housemaid's Secret
The Housemaid's Secret: A Totally Gripping Psychological Thriller with a Shocking Twist | Freida McFadden
6 posts | 9 read | 1 reading | 3 to read
"Don't go in the guest bedroom." A shadow falls on Douglas Garrick's face as he touches the door with his fingertips. "My wife... she's very ill." As he continues showing me their incredible penthouse apartment, I have a terrible feeling about the woman behind closed doors. But I can't risk losing this job-not if I want to keep my darkest secret safe... It's hard to find an employer who doesn't ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want. It's almost perfect. But I still haven't met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I'm sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I'm doing laundry. And one day I can't help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything... That's when I make a promise. After all, I've done this before. I can protect Mrs Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe. Douglas Garrick has done wrong. He is going to pay. It's simply a question of how far I'm willing to go... This absolutely explosive and shockingly twisty sequel to international bestseller The Housemaid will keep you racing through the pages late into the night. Anyone who loves The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, The Woman in the Window and Gone Girl will be totally hooked! This book can also be enjoyed as a standalone. Read what everyone's saying about The Housemaid's Secret: "OMG!!! MIND ABSOLUTELY BLOWN!!!! Love, LOVE, LOVED this absolute page-turner!!... OMG the twists just kept on coming again and again!!!... I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!!... Addictive, mind-blowing page-turner that will keep you up with a racing heart until you've finished!!!" Bookworm86, ????? Had to leave work this morning and go to the doctor. Most of you know that I talk on the phone all day at work and I lost my voice a couple of days ago. Turns out I have strep and bilateral ear infections 😫I‘m going to try to start this one. I‘m having chills so I may not make it very far. Have you read it or any of this author‘s books! I loved The Housemaid and Do Not Disturb 🖤

Read4life I‘m so sorry you‘re sick. I hope you feel better soon & at least can get some reading time. I haven‘t read anything by this author but I‘ve stacked it. 🤓💙 2w
tonymp I read The Housemaid and I loved it. I read it from start to finish in one night, it was a huge page turner. I plan to read this next one soon. I hope you feel better soon! Strep sucks. I got it a lot when I was a kid. 2w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @cinda.marie I‘ll send it to you when I finish it… thank you 😊 2w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @tonymp I agree! Thank you! Not very often an adults get strep 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2w
tonymp @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks You'd be surprised about adults getting strep! I got it quite often from childhood well into my mid thirties, although the frequency of it tapered off when I started college. I think I got it a total of 5 times throughout my twenties. Some people don't like being over 40. I really don't mind! I had one bad year, age 8. I got it four times! 2w
curiouserandcurioser @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks hope you feel better soon, sweet friend❤ love you💕💕 2w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @tonymp omg!! That‘s a lot! I‘m 47 and don‘t like it one bit! It‘s better than the alternative though! I talk on the phone for 12 hours and the doctors were telling me today that I need to see a doctor and rest my voice 😂😂 they couldn‘t understand anything I was saying! 2w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @curiouserandcurioser thank you Penny! Love you too! ❤️ 2w
ShelleyBooksie Hope you feel better soon!! ♡ 2w
dragondrool Feel better! I lost my voice for three days when I was in the middle of student teaching 31 sixth graders. It was just from strain. Katie loved it, because any time I needed everyone's attention, I would signal her and she'd holler for me. 2w
tonymp @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I'm also 47! Strep free for quite a long time, since my thirties. Honestly, and I'm not a scientist (actually, I'm a Spanish teacher, not good at science), I think it just has to do with random crap. I've always had to be a talker, and I mean a public speaker (you know, language teaching) so the more you open your mouth, the more your mouth is open. The bacteria just see you with your mouth open and fly in there. 2w
Bklover Oh no! Strep is miserable! Hope you feel better quickly! Be cozy and drink lots of tea❤️❤️❤️❤️ 2w
UwannaPublishme Oh my! Rest up and feel better soon, Misty. ❤️ 2w

I loved this sequel almost as much as I loved the first one. Such an awesome twist that I didn‘t see coming even though I had suspicions. This was so well crafted up until the very end. I loved that there were little pieces that I knew were important but I couldn‘t figure it out until the very last page. This book was another masterpiece by this author.

Millie Calloway was hired as a housemaid for Douglas Garrick and he told her not to go into the guest bedroom as his wife was very ill. She can hear Mrs. Garrick crying and can see blood stains on the neck of her nightgown so she does knock on the bedroom door to make sure things are ok. But what she sees she knows Mrs. Garrick needs help getting away from her abusive husband.

EadieB That's when all her problems begin. This is a very interesting mystery which I enjoyed reading. It has a cleverly plotted story that I had a hard time putting down. The characters were intricately believable as I read on in the plot. I loved the Epilogue of three months later when Millie gets her revenge. If you love crafty mysteries then you would love this book. 1mo
EadieB I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy for an honest review. I look forward to my next Freida McFadden book. 1mo
