Honestly, this is a 🌟🌟🌟 rating. It's cute. Predictable and had some pacing issues. It was slow to start...and when it found its groove...bam thr story is over. But still entertaining. #bookspin @thearomaofbooks

“Be guided. Listen to the whispers of the universe.”
I started this one today! Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors. Excited about this one.

Nice! Had a pretty quick twist/resolution, but I absolutely loved the ending. Marie Lu does such a great job at weaving these stories together. Lighthearted, action packed. I just wonder where the rest of the band went? Weren‘t there more guys?
Six books behind my GR challenge. Have to get on. Lucky it‘s school summer break and I have time. Starting with this one I missed through the year. Love Marie Lu. Look forward to it. #reading #holidayread #christmasread #notaxmasbook
I would give this 4.5 stars. I struggled to get into it, but it did pick up after the first part. I then finished it rather quickly. It was a cute story, a little predictable, though. I guessed everything that was going to happen, but that's pretty normal with YA books.
The story is fast paced with plenty of action, glamor, and an antagonism to attraction romance. Both Winter and Sydney must confront their respective trauma in order to relate to each other and fulfill their mission. Some suspension of disbelief is required, as some aspects are unrealistic. The characters are both 19 years old, but the book has a YA vibe. Stars and Smoke is a fun teen thriller with some good plot twists toward the end. 4 stars
Stars & Smoke is everything I want in a young adult adventure novel- enemies-to-lovers (!!!), a pop star boy, a secret agent girl (and y‘all know how much I love spies and secret agents), and one big espionage mission. Fortunately for me, Marie Lu delivered on exactly what she promised.
This novel was brilliantly written, and I loved every second of it. The characters were well-developed and entertaining, I especially loved the spy Sydney Cossett
This was the perfect listen for cleaning and yard work. Fast paced and entertaining. Couldn‘t put it down (and that‘s why I got my to do list done today 😂).
I was completely swept up in this one and I have to say although it's a YA and you'll need to suspended disbelief just a tad, it's still a great story with endearing characters and I'm anxious for the next book. Truly a great way to pass an afternoon.
I enjoyed this YA Adventure/Romance with one caution. Winter Young is a 19 yo mega star (think Justin Beiber at his height), and Sydney Cossette is a 19 yo spy looking to rise in the covert world of secret agents. They are tasked with gathering evidence on a major crime boss who hires Winter to perform at his daughter‘s 19th birthday party in London. Lots of action, adventure and slow-burn attraction ensue, and we also glimpse parts of their 🔻
