pickNick Cave, a musician, is known for being part of a wild and chaotic band. As he‘s aged and had to go through the process of grieving the death of his teenage son, he is a changed man. He was always a seeker but now, to my mind, he‘s closer to that liminal space and understanding that love is the thread of life. Wonderful conversations with O‘Hagan. I read the last 1/3‘d of the book in one sitting and it felt especially spiritually potent. 🔽
“Hope is optimism with a broken heart.” Nick Cave is dropping such great lines in this book.
The book that have I lined up for #sexdrugsandrocknroll for July is a collection of interviews with one of the greatest living patron saints of rock 'n roll. I might also squeeze in the recent book by Cave's frequent collaborator: Warren Ellis' Nina Simone's Gum. My tune is Bad Reputation by Joan Jett 🤘

Talk about random moments in time! Serendipity! This morning I saw Flea on IG talking about the power of this book. Then I saw that @MrsMalaprop had reviewed it positively. I called my small local bookstore. They had one copy left. Just so happens it was an autographed copy. What are the chances an autographed copy would be in a small store in Vermont? I was just shocked they even had the book! Very excited to read it.

Making a start on this latest Nick Cave book created from more than 40 hours of conversations with journalist (& friend) Sean O‘Hagan. I saw the man in concert again recently and it was sublime. So too it seems is this book #fangirl #swoon
