Forever Odd
Forever Odd: An Odd Thomas Novel | Dean Koontz
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER I see dead people. But then, by God, I do something about it. Odd Thomas never asked for his special ability. Hes just an ordinary guy trying to live a quiet life in the small desert town of Pico Mundo. Yet he feels an obligation to do right by his otherworldly confidants, and thats why hes won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death. But when a childhood friend disappears, Odd discovers something worse than a dead body and embarks on a heart-stopping battle of will and wits with an enemy of exceptional cunning. In the hours to come there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. Youre invited on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror and transcendence to wonders beyond imagining. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

Bringing back an author I used to read with the Odd Thomas series. This is book 2. I adored book 1, but this one was flat for me. I think this is a transition book, so I will read the next. I had difficulty buying into this story and the ghosts that populated the first were largely absent. This was a different crime to solve with another psycho, but I found it tedious.

Took me over 1.5 hours of scroll, scroll, scrolllllling on the website but I finally found my first Litsy #BookHaul post from September 2016! Over the past three years, I‘ve read only two of these books: Forever Odd & Exit Strategy 😳 This was a fun trip down memory lane. I found lots of great #LitsyMemories & I‘m thinking of making a collage 😂 Thanks @Lcsmcat for your awesome #BookHaulChallenge!

Lcsmcat Thanks for playing! 5y

I didn‘t like this one as much as the first in the series, but still a great read. I eventually want to get through the whole series. For now, I‘m going to switch to Agatha Christie.

Mehso-so

After the tight, twisting narrative of the first book, this one lost me a bit. The villain was just too over the top for my taste, and fortunate, coincidental timing came into play one too many times. I did enjoy the main setting in the ruined building. I'm still not sure what to think of the ending. Debating whether I'll give the third book a shot.

This book was not offensive at any point just mediocre. The twist seemed silly and the noir feeling felt tacked on. Most of Koontz books feel forced. There seems to be no authenticity to his works instead they feel like cash grabs. Just my opinion.

Super Bowl ... of Pretzels! 🥨🥨🥨 the only bowl I care about. I am not really enjoying this book but I‘m already halfway so I will finish. Sometimes that‘s when it gets better. The back 50%

Reggie I gave up Koontz once his books started sounding like his other books. My favorite Koontz memory was when I was at Texas Tech Bandcamp in 96 and I read Twilight Eyes, which I think King piggybacks off of in one of his short stories about someone trying to quit smoking and seeing the monster/body snatchers that walk among us. Anyway TE has to do with a carnival in the 70‘s and it reads like one of those dark scary movies you watch from 1-3a.m. 6y
Jerame2999 @Reggie I read intensity and was off Koontz for good. Then I watched the Odd Thomas movie and enjoyed the main character. I figured hey I read intensity in high school maybe Koontz is better than I remember. NO. Like I said I will finish this and I‘m good. I was just looking for something else I guess. 6y

I‘m getting well into Odd Thomas, he‘s a cute character that sees dead people and while it‘s probably more a YA series of books I‘m enjoying it. Especially loving the Elvis side story. Looking forward to seeing what Odd and Elvis get up too next.

Growingupsok Neither did I until it showed up on my bookshelf.... I was given a bunch of books and that was in it. It is so good so far. Kind of gritty, but it showed up at a pivotal time for me. I'm loving it. 7y

☠☠☠☠ While not as emotionally charged as the first book, I felt this one to be a lot more entertaining, perhaps because of the sadistic, twisted villains. I can't help but adore Oddie.

Pickpick

A just-as-exciting companion to the first in the series, Forever Odd has all of the wit and eerie-ness the first book held. Though Odd himself has some quite in-human abilities, I found that this book emphasized just how human he is as he has to take on his next challenge alone.
