One of my most favorite albums….some of the best of Mark Kozelek….before he got all weird and overly “wordy”.
@TieDyeDude #TuesdayTunes
For #tuesdaytunes, I‘m sharing this playlist I found on Spotify one day when I was at the dog park with my dog. When I go to the dog park in my neighborhood, I let my dog off the leash and let her run around in there. Then, I put my earbuds in and start walking the path while listening to music and she walks with me. I‘ve been listening to this playlist when I‘m at the dog park with my dog. I like a lot of the songs so far.
As I have a busy day tomorrow, I am creating my #tuesdaytunes post now. A lot of cover love right now, with Cash's version of The Beatles “In My Life“ being a perennial favorite. This is on American IV, the same album as the iconic version as “Hurt“ & I think it deserves as much attention; it is more understated but the emotions are there nonetheless & it is a fantastic cover. Secondly, is Meg Myers' cover “Running Up That Hill.“ (CONT)
In keeping with @TieDyeDude and #TuesdayTunes I am posting Kurt Vile….also a Philly based indie band. Kurt Vile formed The War on Drugs with Adam Granduciel. Vile‘s Walking on a Pretty Daze is my favorite Kurt Vile album.
Thanks for adding some Tunes, TDD!
One of my fave albums that I have discovered in the past few months is Stevens' “Illinoise“ & one of the tracks that jumped out even during the initial listen was “John Wayne Gacy Jr“ This popped up on a spotify play list earlier today. Other favorites: “We Gathered In Spring“ (Midlake) “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye“ (Betty Swann) “The Dark End Of The Street“ (James Carr)

I forgot to post this one last week 😅
What's your go-to playlist to relax to?
My taste in music is as eclectic as my reading preferences. I do enjoy a bit of Fleet Foxes, James Blake or The XX to unwind to.

I usually always play at least a couple wistful, melancholy folk music albums on Sunday nights. The sort of music that would make a perfect soundtrack to the stories of Alice Munro or the poetry of Emily Dickinson. After just playing a favorite (Vashti Bunyan's Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind) I decided to go off on a different tangent & turn it up to 11 with a favorite: the most recent Low album. RIP Mimi Parker.
📕 Rascal, kind of a childhood favorite and the author was local.

I listen to a lot of Spotify y'all

My local members supporter radio station is playing all 70s music this weekend. They asked listeners to submit their 5 favorite songs of the decade. An impossible task, as I'd struggle with a list of the 5 best Bowie songs of the 70s. Nevertheless, above are the ones I submitted.
Today's book haul! I just started the Oliver Sacks one and I'm really enjoying it. 🤓📚
As someone who loves music, this is an interesting question. My top 5 most listened to albums, in no particular order:
💿 Nirvana: Unplugged
💿 Beastie Boys: Hello Nasty
💿Sharon Van Etten: Are We There
💿João Gilberto: Getz/Gilberto
💿The Cure: Galore
What are your 5 most listened to albums?
#20in4 wrap up
I read for 10h15m and finished 2 novellas. Got up to 75% in the tagged audiobook, 30% in my ebook and have only 100p left in my print book. So pretty good progress, and hopefully I'll finish all 3 of those before the end of the month.
Sleepy cat pic just cause #catsoflitsy
A small #20in4 update, but mostly an excuse to show off my new #audiostitching project. New-ish, this is almost 3 weeks of work. I'll be doing it for a while but I love it so that's ok.
I'm at 4h45m for the readathon so far. Definitely won't hit 20 hours but I've got 2 novellas finished, and up to 50% in the tagged audiobook.
I had a lot of fun with the music reading challenge so I thought I would try it again.
Just looked at my Spotify wrapup. I'm always a bit surprised by my most listened to artist. Lana Del Rey's Chemtrails Over the Country Club was one of my first favorite albums of the year, but I figured I have listened to others more often. Not surprised that WSIRN is my most listened to podcast. Backlisted was # 2. Also, if I ever write an autobiography I have found my title "Yearning & Wistful." Sounds like a Belle and Sebastian album.

Wasn‘t really wanting music today so I did some #AudioCleaning. It wasn‘t on my TBR however, I‘ll try not to be too annoyed with myself for straying.
I found this to be extremely interesting, although I could have gone without so many plugs for Sacks‘ other bodies of work. A little heavy at times but overall a great read.
Leon Fleisher was the most daughter after teacher at the conservatory I attended. He was also quite funny. #piano #quotsysept20 @TK-421
It‘s easy to become eagerly engaged in the mysteries and discoveries that the brain holds, especially with Sacks‘ descriptive style.
John Lee narrates the audio book with a soothing cadence, bringing a melodic rhythm to Sacks‘ words.
Outdated phrasing is sort of expected with older works and this book has terms we would no longer use. Besides that it‘s a very accessible book and highly recommended.
I've been quiet on Litsy because my beautiful sister & niece were visiting from Florida for 3 weeks. They left last night & I'm feeling blue 😭 I didn't get to take part yesterday but I'm here today for #belowzer00s ! I spent good chunk of the early aughts up until 2006 in Winnipeg, Canada so lots of clubbing & gigs in my early 20s. Good times 💕 This is some of the music that was a big part of life: https://spoti.fi/30cnHtu @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB
#Movember - Music: I like when there is a prompt about music in the photo challenges because listening to music is equally as important to me as reading books. I usually do the two together. I have a playlist on my iPod titled ‘Music for Reading.‘🎶 Reading penetrates to some deeper part of my brain when I‘m listening to music simultaneously. Oliver Sacks understood - music wields a power over the brain. I say music communicates with the soul.🎵
#SelfImprovementSept - Music: This is my iPod. A materialistic thing that I cherish, because it connects me to a primal love - music. Music - something so fundamentally intrinsic to my well-being that I never go anywhere without it! This iPod still travels well! 🎶
I miss Oliver Sacks and am savoring the last few books of his that I haven‘t read. Hope all you #24in48 people are still hanging in there (at least the ones like me who have no hope of getting to 24 hours, but still have fun trying 😁)! I‘m at 14:26:00.
The 90s were all about music for me. I lived in some headphone bubble with the songs that helped get me through life. I tried to make this playlist as exhaustive as possible but I've already left out a few ... like Bobby Brown 😂 I was so into alternative music & female singers & dreaming about attending Lilith Fair 😍 But not forgetting hip-hop & RnB. Had to make a playlist 🤓 https://spoti.fi/2Yzi1IS #90sSpringFling @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB
I am going to be the singer in a newly formed band, so I‘m coming up with a list of songs to suggest at our meeting tomorrow. Can‘t wait! Any suggestions?
So, we have new neighbours (and they have a baby due in 3 weeks!), and we share a dividing wall...they‘re not noisy, but they‘re ‘present‘. I‘m super sensitive to noise and our schedules are overlapping. I usually read with silence in the house. Any tips of some background music I can download from Apple Music to set a good reading environment if I can‘t have silence!
Heard this song on the radio & thought I‘d share the #highlyrelatablecontent.
Other, lyrical gems:
“I'm working backwards, forwards
And left to right
And I'm pretty darn hard headed
But I can't make up my mind.”
“I like to figure things out and make everything right
But I'm secretly thrilled when everything's changing.”
Listen for yourself!:

Why is music so powerful and why does it have such a hold over the human race? Oliver Sachs tries to answer from his neurological practice. More questions than answers, and despite Sachs's obvious compassion it does read a bit like a freak show at times

Oliver Sacks has an incredible legacy, including this book.
I have learned so much from reading his works.
How is The City & The City like Musicophilia?
1. I'm not sure I have a favorite but in 1988/89 these guys were my jam. #NKOTB4ever
2. I am doing a couple of challenges and I set a good reads goal that seemed insane but is almost completed
3. A half hour at lunch and a half hour with my morning coffee.
4. One burglary about 5 years ago
5. I was both a Guinness world record holder and in sports illustrated during the same year.
@MinDea #humpdaypost
1- this was hard cause I love so many and it depends on my mood but right now I am listening to a lot of Dallas Green (City & Colour and Alexisonfire) and Alkaline Trio.
2- just my goodreads one which is 300.
3- probably about 3 hours
4- not a lot but I assume the general amount for suburb 10 miles outside of Portland.
5- uh I‘ve never broken a bone and I have never had braces but have really straight teeth.

Some people hear music while others feel it. The beauty of words set to a melody is an expression of love in it's many forms.
a day late, but why not!
• currently listening to Kacey Musgraves‘ album Pageant Material and Shawn Mendes‘ album Shawn Mendes
• I don‘t have just one, but some longtime faves are Pink, Kate Voegele, Marianas Trench, and Stone Sour
• I don‘t subscribe to any, but I‘m thinking about trying Apple Music! Thoughts?

I‘ve had the tagged book on my TBR for years! Love music! https://www.last.fm/user/iceboxwoman/
🎵This morning was the new NIN, followed by my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify
🎶The Beatles, Pearl Jam, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, Nine Inch Nails
🎵Rock
🎶I subscribed to Spotify Premium for the next 3 months. I probably won‘t keep it. I have a huge iTunes library.
🎵If you read this, tag, you‘re it! I love this topic!
Not completely book related, but do you know this music group? 😂😂😂
Waiting at the train station so that I finally arrive home again.
Not shown the delicious 'Schokowuppi' I ate at the station. 😁
Many of Sacks‘ patients had #memory issues, but were reachable through music. #readingresolutions @Jess7

These look good!
(My daughter observed that Musicophilia would take ages to say because of the three rests and the minim. 🎼)
I don‘t only get books at the library. 🙂
Not book related but I just bought my first ukulele! I‘ve been taking lessons for about a month and decided it was time to use my own. It‘s so pretty!
Finally got my shiny new turntable!!! I'm really enjoying it so far. (It's been about five minutes.)
