Look what I found at a used bookstore. It‘s making me feel like a kid again!

LeahBergen 🤣🤣 I loved this one as a kid! I have the Scholastic paperback as well but with a slightly different cover. Scroll down under the title to see! 😆 (edited) 2y
BookNAround @LeahBergen So many great covers out there. And it‘s such a charming book I wish it was still in print although maybe kids today have different enough tastes that it wouldn‘t work now. Another one of the same ilk that I loved was The Fabulous Flight by Robert Lawson. (edited) 2y
LeahBergen Oh, I haven‘t heard of that one! 2y

Pickpick

This S.F. book, The Wonderful Flight, is such fun, and amazing for students to enjoy. The book is about the adventures of Chuck and David. They find an ad in a newspaper about a home-built spaceship. The two boys quickly made their spaceship out of tin and scrap and present it to the advertisement. This led them to go on this adventure to the mushroom planet.

ztorres This book will keep students engage. What kid those not want to read about spaceships and aliens? This book is great for I.R., teachers can encourage students to pick an appropriate chapter book that will keep them engage in reading and will encourage the love for reading. This story includes UDL‘s strategy 9.1 “promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation” 3y
ztorres ESOL strategies: Offer a variety of reference materials at the students‘ instructional level for independent use. Encourage self-talk. 3y

Perfect resource to use in class as the student progress on the reading. It provides vocabulary words, words in content, synonyms, and many more. Great to check it out and plan a great lesson for the students.

Sorry, @Liberty I couldn't choose just one for #GIVEAWAYTHEPOWER. I chose my favorite sci-fi book from childhood on the right and my favorite to read to the class on the left (the kids get a real kick out of the dogs meeting in the park ;)

Okay @Liberty this was a tough one so I went with the first sci-fi book I kept rereading as a kid. Love the idea there was a planet close by that hadn't been discovered. #READATHONBLOB

I treated myself to a long-searched-for hardcover of my favorite book EVER. Funnily, the world wide internet linked me to an antiquarian shop about 90 minutes from me. Sometimes it's a small world 😁

TobeyTheScavengerMonk I read this as a kid when I took a book with me everywhere. I misplaced it at a sports stadium and was so upset my parents asked that it be announced over the intercom. I still remember the guy sighing heavily and announcing to everyone through the speakers, "Folks, I promise this is not a joke, but a little boy has lost a book called, again not a joke, The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet." I got it back too! 7y
elkeOriginal @TobeyTheScavengerMonk That's an amazing story! 7y

One more #funfridayphoto before I jump into the readathon! I wanted to get to the Mushroom Planet SO badly as a kid that I basically wore out the copies of this series in my hometown library. Timeless adventure!!
