Shelter (Book One)
Shelter (Book One): A Mickey Bolitar Novel | Harlan Coben
A young adult debut from internationally bestselling author Harlan CobenMickey Bolitar's year can't get much worse. After witnessing his father's death and sending his mom to rehab, he's forced to live with his estranged uncle Myron and switch high schools.A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey's train-wreck of a life is finally improving - until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley's trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn't who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey's father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury - and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.First introduced to readers in Harlan Coben's latest adult novel, Live Wire, Mickey Bolitar is as quick-witted and clever as his uncle Myron, and eager to go to any length to save the people he cares about. With this new series, Coben introduces an entirely new generation of fans to the masterful plotting and wry humor that have made him an award-winning, internationally bestselling, and beloved author.Follow Mickey Bolitar on his next adventure in Seconds Away, coming out in Fall 2012!

My daughter and I binge watched the whole season of Shelter in one night. Now I want to read the series and compare it. I've found that TV series based on books tend to follow the story better than movies, so I guess we will see.

Myron will always be my favorite Bolitar but I love Mickey, too. Listened to this with the hubby as a #RoadTripReads. Listening to all 3 and then he‘ll be ready to watch the series with me.

Andrew65 You can‘t beat Myron, but grew to like Mickey more and more as the books in that series progressed. Well done 👏👏👏 6mo

#99 of my year. This is book 1 in a long series so if I end up really liking it I‘ll have to order the rest of the set but yeah lol Listening to Heartbreaker by Tayo Sound 💛

Caffeinated_Reader Whoa. That was a fast paced read. Full of gut wrenching moments. Mickey is a top notch character. Young but strong and brave. I loved the meaning behind the butterflies and why those specific ones. I will definitely read the rest of this series. 4y
Caffeinated_Reader 🔴🔴🔴 just ordered books 2-5 of this series 🥳🥳🥳 #thriftbooks 4y

Really enjoyed first book! I really, really need to get hold of the first book of the Myron Bolitar series. My library doesn‘t have it. This book was a great reminder of teenage stuff. You think life is so tough and no one gets you, but now as an adult it just feels so cute that you can focus on a certain thing in life like it‘s the only thing that matters. The case itself is horrible, and nothing youngsters should have to worry about.

Andrew65 Better to read the Myron Bolitar series before the Mickey Bolitar books. (edited) 4y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Wish my library would have them! 4y

Shelter is the first book of the Mickey Bolitar Series. At first I wasn‘t sure about these books, felt he was the poorer relation compared to Marlon, but these really grew on me and enjoyed them a lot.

dragondrool These are great. There were three of us teachers who got first reading dibs before they were put into circulation at our school library. 5y

Realistically depicts what it is like to be the new kid and all the teenage angst that goes along with it.

I love the Myron Bolitar books, so I knew this series would be great too. Mickey turns a rag-tag set of kids into a sleuth group and they solve the mystery of where Mickey's gf has disappeared to. This is set with a good amount of mystery that ends on a great setup to the next in the series. Nothing like the silliness of scooby-doo, but it does involve all teens figuring out the clues. Also, the reading is done by a great voice (Nick Pedehl).

A rare series I haven‘t read, though enjoyed quite a few of his stand alone!

Cinfhen I read this one but I wasn‘t a fan so I chose not to continue with this series. It features Myron‘s nephew Mickey. It was a little cheesy for me. 5y
TrishB @Cinfhen 👍🏻 thanks for the tip! 5y

#MarchMadness #YACrimeFiction This series took a book to grow on me, following reading the Myron Bolitar series (one of my all time favourites) but I soon grew to love them. These books are based on Myron‘s nephew Mickey, and as the series starts there is certainly no love lost between them.

somebooksaround 🙌🙌 these sound great! 6y
Andrew65 Would certainly recommend the Myron Bolitar series first if you haven‘t read them, I love them. (edited) 6y
rekahlee I *loved* this series, but you‘re right, it‘s a bit slow to get into. These were actually my first Coben and then I went back and read a couple with Myron afterwards 6y

Andrew65 @RekahLee I love Myron‘s humour. Interesting that you also thought they were slow to get into at first. 6y
Booknerd2 💜💜💜 the Myron series. Might sound weird but I love Wynn!!! 6y
