Reading my Emma chapter 8
📗technically it‘s May 8
Happy Weekend
Let the reading begin 🤍
The Illustrations and concept behind this book are beautiful. I recommend giving it a read (and finding the cat on every page). That being said, so much about this book didn't work well. Some of the things included with any given letter felt random or unrelated, and quite a few things felt like a Huge stretch for the ABCs structure. #PictureBook #Equality #SocialJustice
All my spare time is on this.
See you Sunday for our #SUNDAYBUDDYREAD
Some children‘s books confuse me - which could well be because I don‘t have children to ask. But this is one of them.
The pictures are young. And there‘s a cat to find on every page. But the words and concepts are WAY older. (“Little d democracy - dictators detest it, donkeys don‘t get it”). I‘m just not sure who it‘s for.

Letter A - Wow, does this book have wildly varying reviews on GR! Vegans don‘t like it because it doesn‘t include animal rights. Parents don‘t like it because of the higher-level vocabulary. I happen to love it, and wish it was around when Maya was younger. For progressive activists, like me, it‘s filled with ideas you talk about in your home but may not know how to introduce with young ones. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I‘ve been bad about photo challenges this month, but I knew had this book at the ready for #activist. #starthemyoung #resist. #readingresolutions. It‘s a great little book with a black cat hidden on each page. My kids love it. Here is the f entry “f is for feminist, for fairness in our pay, for freedom to flourish and choose our own way.”

Had a fun day in San Francisco with a bunch of college friends. Got a little stressed with all the public transportation we used, but made it through! Headed home now for some rest before going hiking in the redwoods tomorrow
A progressive take on alphabet books with a black cat hidden somewhere on each page. #xmarksthespot #uncannyoctober. Still looking for an X author for #litsyatoz any recommendations?
I have to find out if my nephew has this and if he doesn't he needs it.
Here is one damn good reason to support local bookstores. They're on the front lines. Fighting the good fight. I know I'm lucky to live in a place that has so many indie bookstore options. If you are too, #shoplocal.

I've had my eye on this book for a while, having read a lot of great things about it, and it lives up to the hype. Really excellent illustrations with detail and color that I look forward to exploring further; it's a beautiful book. A lot of big ideas are covered, written in simple (but not simplistic) rhymes. Note: works best as a read aloud. It's progressive af, so if that's your bag, this is your book. • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • #thisiswhatafeministreads

Want to start a revolution, even slowly? Simple rhyme for complex thoughts. A good starting point if you're an activist mama (or daddy) like me.
Probably one of the most challenging pages I've read in a board book. But my daughter was into it! ✊🏼
