Enna Burning
Enna Burning | Shannon Hale

When her mother dies, Enna leaves the city and her friends to move back home with her brother, Leifer. She thought life would be simpler and more manageable in the forest. But Enna's was not meant to be a simple life, and when Leifer brings home a mysterious piece of vellum and starts setting fires-without a spark, without flint-something seems wrong. Enna cannot decide if that something is a power she wants for herself, or if it's a power that should be extinguished forever. And when her country, Bayern, goes to war, that choice becomes unbearable as her friendships are tested and her sense of self nearly lost in the fires she creates. Ultimately Enna and her best friend, Isi, take a nearly impossible journey in search of a cure for the war around them-and for the wars within themselves. * A New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age * An Amazon "Editor's Pick" for Best Book of the Year * An Association of Booksellers for Children "Best Book," Science Fiction & Fantasy category "[T]his novel's pulsing heart lies in rich writing and sharply drawn characters, elements that will be devoured by genre fans just like kindling beneath flames." -Booklist "[An] original tale that stands on its own . . . with a richly detailed setting, eloquent descriptions, a complex plot, a large cast of characters, and romance, this high fantasy will be welcomed by fans of The Goose Girl and those who have yet to discover it."-School Library Journal "Powerful and romantic." -Kirkus Reviews Don't miss the companion novels: THE GOOSE GIRL 1-58234-990-8 pb - $8.95 1-58234-843-X hc - $17.95 RIVER SECRETS 1-59990-293-1 pb - $8.99 1-58234-901-0 hc - $17.95 FOREST BORN 1-59990-167-6 hc - $17.99

Isn‘t this a great orange cover? Amazing and so fiery! This is the 2nd in the Books of Bayern series by Shannon Hale and was terribly hard to find. I ended up buying the whole set. I wanted to read them anyway, so… It seemed kind of drawn out where it didn‘t need to be, but I did like it. #114 #BookSpinBingo #5 #FALLINTOREADING #SERIESSEPTEMBER #SERIES2021 #NOTSOSCARYATHON #BFC21 #6 #SuperSeptember

TheSpineView Awesome! 👍📖 3y
EadieB Love 💕 the colors in the cover too! Thanks for participating in the readathon! 3y
TheAromaofBooks I really love this series - I especially love how the last book comes around full circle and addresses some of the questions I had about the first book/world-building/magic. 3y
Allylu @TheAromaofBooks I really enjoyed The Goose Girl - so much that I planned to read the entire series and look for other books by Shannon Hale. 3y

This one is always the hardest for me to get through in the Books of Bayern because of F*cking Sileph, but that doesn't mean it's not good. I love how much Hale expands the world of Bayern here, and how Isi and Enna's powers and friendship save the country and their lives. #yalit #fantasy

#7days7covers Day 5

Why did they ever switch to the boring generic picture-of-a-girl covers??? Uggggh

@Cinfhen @eanderson

I loved the Books of Bayern series, which started with Goose Girl. In this one, the second of the series, Enna tries to control her ability to wield fire, but her need to burn threatens everything she cares about. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Cinfhen Hmmm, you might like this one @Elisa ?!? Are you familiar with this series??? 6y
Cinfhen It sounds good! 6y

I'm in love with everything Shannon Hale touches, and this series is one of my absolute favorites to reread during a low-key weekend. Strong female protagonists, FIRE, and conflict centered around finding your true self. Adore it.
