Likely Stories | Neil Gaiman
18 posts | 13 read | 17 to read
From Hugo, Eisner, Newbery, Harvey, Bram Stoker, Locus, World Fantasy, and Nebula award-winning author Neil Gaiman and Eisner award-winner Mark Buckingham (Fables) comes a striking graphic novel anthology of four essential fantasy stories. These dark and imaginative tales feature an odd and subtly linked world of bizarre venereal diseases, a creepy old woman who feasts on raw meat, a man obsessed with a skin model from a magazine, and a story within a story about ghosts. You wont want to miss this collection featuring comic adaptations of the short stories: Looking for the Girl, Foreign Parts, Closing Time, and Feeders and Eaters from the Sunday Times bestselling author, Neil Gaiman.

For Gaiman fans & for those of use who can‘t wait for The Sandman (hello Tom Sturridge), there‘s a good article about Gaiman in the WaPo magazine:

KathyWheeler I cannot wait for The Sandman! (edited) 2y
wanderinglynn @KathyWheeler right! It looks so good! 2y
KathyWheeler @wanderinglynn it does! I wasn‘t happy at first with the casting of Dream; he didn‘t look like Dream to me. Then I saw the trailer, and I‘m all in. 2y

I liked this graphic novel, with it's after hours club and scary stories, and the graphics were good. It is fairly heavy on the dudeness, but it's Gaiman, so it's still good. The stories go from weird to weirder, and at least one of the stories ends with an intriguing non sequitur. I'm glad I finally plucked this off my TBR shelf of doom (doom for the books, as it's less likely I'll read them if I own them, sigh).

Alright #AuthorAMonth folks! We‘ve got about a week of Gaiman left, and December 1st we switch to Roald Dahl. I can not believe how many of Neil‘s books you all have read! I‘ll post the end of the month standings next weekend. Don‘t forget to use the hashtag and tag me in your reviews so I can be sure to log them. I started putting the prize box together today 😊📚👍

Eggs Looking forward to this in 2020 4y

Mehso-so

I was a bit letdown by this. It has several short stories that are all slightly connected. The stories themselves were alright for the most part, but I didn't like the endings to any of them. Or how they were connected. I think that could have been done a bit better and in a more interesting way. But the stories do have the weirdness you expect from Gaiman. Felt a little bit darker than usual though. Overall it was kind of meh.

It's 12:01 here, making it November 10th, so I can officially say it!

Happy 59th birthday to the best of the best!

Gaiman's works make my life better and I want many, many more years for him on this planet, in this timeline.

erzascarletbookgasm 💜👏 I was just thinking of this while reading his Snow Glass Apples! 4y

A nice little collection to get me through a day at home with a cold - these stories are eerie and leave lots of room for thought after the fact. Oh, and I love this cover!!!
