Deception Point
Deception Point | Brown, Dan
EDITORIAL REVIEW: From the *New York Times* bestselling author of *The Da Vinci Code* comes an explosive, high-tech thriller that takes readers from the chilling depths of the Arctic Ocean to the treacherous heights of Washington power. When a new NASA satellite spots evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory...a victory that has profound implications for U.S. space policy and the impending presidential election. With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Milne Ice Shelf to verify the authenticity of the find. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery -- a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before Rachel can contact the President, she and Michael are attacked by a deadly team of assassins controlled by a mysterious power broker who will stop at nothing to hide the truth. Fleeing for their lives in an environment as desolate as it is lethal, their only hope for survival is to find out who is behind this masterful ploy. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all. In *Deception Point,* bestselling author Dan Brown transports readers from the ultrasecret National Reconnaissance Office to the towering ice shelves of the Arctic Circle, and back again to the hallways of power inside the West Wing. Heralded for masterfully intermingling science, history, and politics in his critically acclaimed, blockbuster thrillers *Angels & Demons* and *The Da Vinci Code,* Brown has crafted a novel in which nothing is as it seems -- and behind every corner is a stunning surprise. *Deception Point* is pulse-pounding fiction at its best.

This was a low pick for me. I enjoy Dan‘s work but this one made me feel unintelligent sometimes. The consistent NASA level science and political jargon felt cumbersome at times. Amounts of it were very interesting and enjoyable to read/learn but other times I was willing it to be over. I love his short chapters and ability to leave you on a cliffhanger. The thrilling part moved fast and was engaging, it just wasn‘t a fav. #Roll100 for Jan!

I‘ve read this one a few times and really enjoy it. Sadly I feel like Dan Brown‘s latest few have been hugely below average. Also, don‘t you just love a good book in a warm bed #bliss

TheNeverendingTBR This bedding! 🙌 3y
Halfbloodprincess20 @TheNeverendingTBR Awwww thanks. They‘re my fav ones. They are super comfy as well. Downside is that it‘s really hard to get out of bed. I start work at 7:30 so that‘s not a good thing 😂 3y
TheNeverendingTBR @Halfbloodprincess20 Oh, I know the feeling! 🙈 3y
RamsFan1963 Digital Fortress is still my favorite book by Brown. 3y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.

Dan Brown, being one of my favourite writer because of Robert Langdon series. The book isn't a Robert Langdon's but this novel is still a worth read.

@SquidgetsRoom Published before #DaVinciCode back in #2001so this is nearly 18 years old now! This book is somewhat prophetic as the last two years #NASA has reported some similarities and anomalous activity in #Antartica

...when fiction becomes reality ❓😨

DieAReader Thanks @bookcollecter I‘ll look for it to add to my tbd shelves!! 5y

I read this book so long ago.. I forget all the details but I remember it being captivating. Just like all of his books- there was a lot of science and intense scenes-- which makes for a good read.

This started out a little slow for me, but halfway through became the typical Dan Brown action. I definitely didn't like this as much as the Langdon books, but still an enjoyable read.

drokka I preferred this one to the NSA code breaker one. 7y

This book started out great! It had three of my favorite things intertwined: politics, physics and astronomy. I was absolutely in love with it, until I reached the middle of the book and then it became kind of "meh". It lost its spark and it wasn't interesting anymore. Still a great book though! #november #great #danbrown

Now reading and already a little blown away....is everything in this book actually real? Did Bill Clinton say that in 1996? Gonna have to do some googling on this one!

One of my favourite things about traveling is seeing familiar books in other languages and taking a peak at other people's bookshelves. 🤓

Chelsey Shelves that bare make me sad! 8y
Jellybeanbon Somehow due to some misleading photographs on the website we ended up in this really dodgy apartment in Prague thus I was surprised to see any books at all. The bookshelves were the nicest part of the apartment come to think of it 😉 8y

I expected more from Dan Brown. Mind you I read this after reading Angels and Demons and The Davinci Code, both fast paced suspense novels. This was not that. This was slow and brooding and the twist... I was upset. I'm still upset and let down

BestOfFates Okay, I'm intrigued but obv don't want to read this book - what's the twist? 8y
TheNextBook So there is a meteor in the Arctic that has been found and there's a whole conspiracy around who can be involved and why. The plot twist/reveal has to do with the fact that it could reveal alien life. Some bacteria. The lead up was horrible and predictable. 8y
TheNextBook I was just used to more from him. I usually can't guess whats going on with his stories and I'm on the edge of my seat. This one not so much. I read this a while ago and I remember that feeling of dissapointment... 8y
