This was a great listen that describes the experiences of the first six American women to be astronauts - Sally Ride, Judy Resnik, Anna Fisher, Kathy Sullivan, Shannon Lucid, and Rhea Seddon.

Love that California Science Center will showcase the shuttle in such an eye catching way…bet Sally would too. 💫

I couldn't put this down. It's a nonfiction account of NASA's first 6 female astronauts. They went through so much to break the glass ceiling all the way into space. There were moments when their story was infuriating because of what they had to put up with but I am so grateful for their fearless determination. These brilliant women were doctors & scientists long before joining NASA. Their dedication to the space prorgam paved the way for so many.

2nd 5 ⭐️ read for January, an audiobook. I‘m old enough to remember the Challenger explosion, which is toward the end of this book, but I didn‘t know anything before that. This is so interesting, I looked forward to the drive to & from work. These women are/were amazing, courageous, & way smarter than me.

Singout If you like that book, you‘d probably like this excellent one, the bio of female teacher and passenger Christa McAuliffe, recommended for #AuldLangSpine by @Amiable two years ago. 3mo
Scochrane26 @Singout Thanks, I‘ll look for that one. 3mo
Amiable I have this book sitting right on the top of my TBR stack! 3mo
Singout @Amiable Didn‘t you read it in 2021? 3mo
Amiable @Singout I read “The Burning Blue” in 2021. I have “The Six” in my stacks. 3mo

Mrs. Johnson‘s scientific contributions to the success of NASA was immeasurable! She lived a long and productive life as a scientist, though seeking attention and applause for it was secondary to the actual love for her role in it and her dedication to NASA. A true hero who lived to be 101.

Bluebird @AvidReader25 and @Andrew65 I hope you enjoy it! I learned a lot. It was fascinating to learn what these women had to go through in order to become astronauts. Real trailblazers! 3mo

Interesting, exciting, well written. Enjoyed the science themes and knowledge along with the criminal thrill. Great story, can't make something like that up (which it happens to be based on true events).
