The Scam: A Fox and O'Hare Novel | Janet Evanovich, Lee Goldberg
21 posts | 42 read | 9 to read
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Nicolas Fox is a charming con man and master thief on the run. Kate OHare is the FBI agent who is hot on his trail. At least thats what everyone thinks. In reality, Fox and OHare are secretly working together to bring down super-criminals the law cant touch. Criminals like brutal casino magnate Evan Trace. Evan Trace is running a money-laundering operation through his casino in Macau. Some of his best customers are mobsters, dictators, and global terrorists. Nick and Kate will have to go deep undercover as high-stakes gamblers, wagering millions of dollarsand their livesin an attempt to topple Traces empire. Its a scam that will take Fox and OHare from the Las Vegas strip, to the sun-soaked beaches of Oahus North Shore, and into the dark back alleys of Macau. Their only backupa self-absorbed actor, a Somali pirate, and Kates father, an ex-soldier who believes a rocket launcher is the best way to solve every problem. What could possibly go wrong?

Mehso-so

Kate & Nick head off in another con to capture some deadly men. Their con is discovered and they have to revamp their plans. Between a so-so and a pick.

Four books into the series, and still going strong. This time, Nick and Kate take on a Vegas casino owner who's laundering money for terrorists, warlords and various criminal organizations. The action is over the top, as usual, and the chemistry between the two leads gets better and better. As a change of pace, this one ended with a cliffhanger, so it on to The Pursuit asap!! 4 🥂🥂🥂🥂 1/2

Anyone else disappointed with the #Bookly android app? The non-pro version is just a glorified ad for the pro version and hardly even worth my time, as you only get to add 10 books and it doesn't give overall reading stats, but only stats for individual books. I get that they have to make money, but I thought that was what all the pop up ads were for. I was looking to only have to use one app, but instead I just added a third. 😡

SleepyDragon And it triggered a battery drain alert on my phone. Ugh. 5y

Finally! A book in this series that ends on a cliff hanger! For once I can‘t wait to read the next one instead of just reading it because I got the whole series to current from my local library. These follow the same basic format as all of Janet Evanovich‘s books but they‘re fun, quick reads still.

When it‘s already been a long week and there‘s still two of my busiest days to go, a glass of wine and an easy read while my game runs in the background keeps me sane.

IF YOUVE MADE AN ONLINE PURCHASE TODAY WITH #BOOKOUTLET CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS. I just made a $48 purchase, and my back account got charged $79 instead. My receipt still shows the $48 amount when I look back at previous orders. I have asked them to cancel my whole account and refund me immediately. They have not yet responded, but I wanted to make sure everyone is aware that things aren't quite adding up today.... PLEASE SHARE!

Rachel.Rencher I had that happen before... they put my order through 4 times on accident but thankfully PayPal caught it 😳 6y
dariazeoli My pending credit card charge for today‘s order is correct. Maybe just a glitch?🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve never ordered from there... I‘ve heard they have great deals though! I‘m sure they will fix it! If it‘s a credit card, call your holder and tell them! 6y
OrangeMooseReads Oh no! Hope they fix it fast 6y
TheWhiteHatter Thank you for sharing. I hope they do resolve it for you. Good luck. 6y

TheKidUpstairs Thanks for the heads up, hope it gets resolved quickly for you!! 6y
teebe Hope it gets resolved! Their customer service reps have always been super helpful but I noticed that lately, it takes them a while to reply. Make sure your ticket is labeled urgent and if they don't reply in 2 days, dm them on twitter and let them know you're still waiting for a reply. (edited) 6y
TricksyTails Ugh. I hope this has been resolved. So sorry you have to deal with this. 6y

Sorry for this non book related post, but I just had to share this with my fellow Litsy friends. So someone in OR decided to purchase 4 iPhone X using my wireless phone account. I live in IL, so I have no idea how the ATT thought it was perfectly normal that I would order 4 iPhones for my account and ship them to OR. Anyway, just letting you all know what the latest scam is so you are on the lookout. #ScamAlert

TheBookAddict Since they have a promotion that you don‘t have to make a down payment or pay it all in full, you won‘t see a huge bill for the purchase. It is actually a monthly payment agreement of about $33. So just be on the lookout. I had a $33 X 4 charge increase on my account so I definitely noticed it. Ugh, people are just unbelievable. 6y
TheWordJar People need better things to do! 😠 6y
TheBookAddict @TheWordJar exactly! I was extremely mad when I realized what was happening, I even started sweating even though I had previously needed a blanket while on my couch. So I immediately contacted ATT. They‘re trying to track where the order originated from and who received the phones. Each phone is about $1150, so they‘re determined to get to the bottom of it. 6y

JoRead Wow! Checking my phone bill immediately 6y
Cinfhen That‘s crazzy! Anyone ordering 4 phones at that price should raise the red flags! Sorry for the hassle but glad u caught it early on. 6y
TheWordJar Ugh! So sorry this happened! I had an incident earlier this month where I had to put a fraud alert on my credit report and get new credit cards issues. It makes you feel violated, and I just wonder, “Why????” I hope they get to the bottom of this soon for you! 6y
TheBookAddict @Cinfhen my thoughts exactly! 6y
TheBookAddict @TheWordJar exactly! It‘s just terrible. It makes you feel so vulnerable. We had someone use our bank account and my husband‘s name to subscribe to some service so we had to close our bank account and open a new one. It‘s just crazy. 6y
CocoReads Ack! So sorry this happened. I‘ll keep an eye on my phone bill. 6y
AmyG Thanks for the heads up. We have had our credit cards compromised quite a few times. Very scary. 6y
megt Oh no! I‘m so sorry that happened. I‘ve had fraudulent charges on my credit card more than once. It‘s always nerve wracking when you first discover it, but I‘m glad to hear AT&T is working in this for you. 6y
SilversReviews Oh my. Did they get it resolved? And you were not responsible for charges? 6y
TheBookAddict @SilversReviews after quite some time on hold they were very understanding and got it all squared away. @megt it is very scary. Yes, thank you I am glad they didn‘t make it seem like it was my fault. @AmyG you‘re welcome. @CocoReads 👍🏽 6y

Being a Stephanie Plum fan, I was looking forward to reading this book. This series is a bit of a train wreck... Evanovich is usually so much fun to read. Not this book/series. It really didn't work for me. Maybe because it is co-authored? Or maybe because she takes some potshots at Canadians? I think I will stick with books in my usual vein and leave the Evanovich series alone, my reading list is too long to waste my time on mediocre books.

I think this series is Janet Evanovich's best yet! Scott Brick does a great narration. My favorite character is still Kate's father, Jake. Looking forward to reading The Pursuit.

Frivolous summer fun that manages to toss a few moments of actual Feelings and several levels of tension in -- these characters are so much fun to spend a few hours with, and Jake O'Hare is possibly the most fun of all.

Janet Evanovich books are like cake. You don't NEED them. But they sure make living a lot more pleasant. More flirting between Nick and Kate. Jet-setting to casinos. And some landmines. To stop the coyotes of course!

I hope this doesn't give anyone in Hollywood any ideas!

I'm loving Kate O'Hare's father in this book. Jake is a hoot!

actualdisneyprincess Jake is probably my favorite character of all of them, and that's saying something, because they're all fun. But Jake is a treasure. 8y
