Read for today! Hoping I can finish but it‘s a decent size for YA!

Did not love this one. There were elements of positivity near the end, but early on I was questioning finishing it due to the abuse involved. This is not a lighthearted YA fantasy. I finished it because of my curiosity of if it would be redeemed somehow in the end, but did not end up a fan. Beautiful cover and interesting world though!

Basically, I LOVED this book. Moments like this, of character growth, of multifaceted characters, and lovely feminist moments just made for an amazing novel. This fantasy novel boasts about a world filled with people with magical powers, but it‘s so much more than that. The overall story of who is the hero, who is the villain is challenged in this novel as it explores the gray area we all have inside us. Overall just... AMAZING! 🔥📖🙌🏼💕

Shalia enters into an arranged marriage with the neighboring king in order to broker peace between their people. But soon finds she herself is one of the magical Elementae that her cruel/abusive husband is obsessed with destroying. Great world & magical system, along with amazing main characters who fight for what‘s right. It is book 1 in a series, but not cliffhangery. Warning: This is war, not light fantasy. But Shalia is a toughie 💕 #24in48

My candles have pooped out and I am about to turn off the reading light - will finish this awesome fantasy tomorrow when I continue the #24in48 readathon!
