Most Wanted | Lisa Scottoline
Spellbinding. Another "tour de force "from Scottoline. It drew me in, in a single breath. Mary Kubica, bestselling author of "The Good Girl" Donor 3319 Profile: Tall. Blonde. Blue eyes. Medical Student.Wanted for Serial Murder.Christine Nilsson and her husband, Marcus, are desperate for a baby. Unable to conceive, they find themselves facing a difficult choice they had never anticipated. After many appointments with specialists, endless research, and countless conversations, they make the decision to use a donor. Two months pass, and Christine is happily pregnant. But one day, she is shocked to see a young blond man on the TV news being arrested for a series of brutal murders and the blond man bears an undeniable and uncanny resemblance to her donor. Delving deeper to uncover the truth, Christine must confront a terrifying reality and face her worst fears. Riveting and fast-paced with the depth of emotionality that has garnered Lisa Scottoline legions of fans, "Most Wanted" poses an ethical and moral dilemma: What would you do if the biological father of your unborn child was a killer?"

I listened to this book most of the day yesterday without turning on my television. I worked in my yard with wireless headphones on so that I wouldn't miss anything. It was that good. Now, some parts weren't believable, but I rolled with it. I liked the details in the story about sperm donor process and requirements versus egg donor requirements. This book made me think about what I would do in this situation. I enjoyed this book to the very end.

This story was about a couple that use a sperm bank to get pregnant. Then she sees a news report that scares her into thinking her baby's real father is a murderer. I highly recommend this book. It is easy and fast to read.

Setting takes place in my hometown! So weird to hear how she describes places around here! Not sure how I feel about her writing style or voice but trying to stick with this one!

ValerieAndBooks West Chester! That‘s where I live now! Not in town though. I know the author lives in Philly but I haven‘t read anything by her yet (have one in my TBR). 6y

Shrill (audio) - Lindy West

In no particular order:

🌟 Genuine Fraud - E. Lockhart
🌟 The Young Elites - Marie Lu
🌟 A Darker Shade of Magic - V. E. Schwab
🌟 The Wrath and the Dawn - Renee Andieh
🌟 And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie

I've never read an Agatha Christie book before and thought it was about time I did!

#mostwantedtopfive @Smangela

Smangela I am right there with you about Ms. Christie and definitely want to before the movie comes out (unless it already has and I missed it 😂😂) have you read Marie Lu‘s other books? 6y
HelloImJez @Smangela Oh I didn't know a movie was coming out! And yes, I've read Lu's Legend series and really enjoyed it! The first book was a typical dystopian but the other two were perfection, as I recall. But unfortunately my brain mixes up all the dystopians I've ever read so I don't remember 100% what happens! 6y
Smangela That‘s fair! I do that too, I try to write at least enough of a Goodreads review for my own memory but it often doesn‘t happen 🤷🏻‍♀️ that‘s the series I‘ve been wanting to read so I‘ll have to give it ago! 6y
See All 6 Comments
HelloImJez @Smangela Hahaha, that's actually a great idea. I'll have to start doing that more often - particularly with dystopians! And I definitely recommend that series if you like dystopians! I recall there being some pretty loveable characters too~ 6y
[DELETED] 853593837 The 2017 "And Then There Were None" doesn't appear to have anything to do with Agatha Christie's book as she isn't mentioned on the film's IMDb page (like authors usually are if it's an adaptation) although there are a few versions already out, the earliest being 1940's. There is the adaptation of "Murder on the Orient Express" that got released in cinemas on 3rd November. I haven't read any AC either but think ATTWN is a good place to start ☺ 6y
HelloImJez @Reviews_Randomness Ah that's a good point! Maybe it's just SO loosely based on it that there would be no point in referencing? Who knows? Not me! 😆 6y

The book definitely went in a different direction than expected; however, I enjoyed the journey. I don't think a lot of what happened was plausible, but with a Lisa Scottoline book I've learned to be entertained and not impressed with literary mastery.

mcipher I wasn't a huge fan of this one, either, but it was fun enough that I finished it! (And then poured water on it and had to buy the library a new copy 😝) 7y
MyNamesParadise @mcipher oh dang! I thought it was gonna go the lawsuit route- but then I realized that's what would've happened if Jodi Picoult had written a book on this topic! 7y

Not thrilled with the editing on this book. Some things are overly explained. Other places lack clarity on who the subject of the sentence is or who is speaking. Mustering through for book club's sake, otherwise I would have given up 60 pages ago.

Readingrobin Your comments nailed it! I had advance review copies for a library Bookclub last spring. 7y
sherri @Readingrobin - Glad I'm not the only one who thought so. 7y
Kendra.Diane Ugh perfect comments, I couldn‘t think of how to explain it. The redundant details are killing me. Plus the conversations between characters are so stilted. 6y

Time to get cracking on my book club's December selection. Anyone read this one?

TheNextBook I did and I was not a fan. Scottoline and I just dont mix. This was the second one I read by her and I was disappointed with both. 7y
bookishkai I'm with @TheNextBook I'm always disappointed in Scottoline's books, no matter how good they sound. I didn't even make it past the first chapter in this one. 7y
sherri @TheNextBook and @bookishkris - That's what I'm worried about. This isn't my typical genre, and after the first chapter I was feeling a lot like I don't care. But we'll see. I'll keep reading for book club's sake. I think I'll be looking forward to my next read, however. 7y
TheNextBook @Sherri @bookishkris I finished cause it was an ARC but it became a whole lot of what the hell is going on and why?! I just couldnt. 7y

Had to borrow this one twice from Overdrive to finish, but it was worth the double wait! A couple uses a sperm bank in order to get pregnant. When a man who bears a resemblance to their donor is arrested as a suspected serial killer, the newly pregnant woman sets out to uncover the truth...no matter how devastating it may be. (This one didn't pan out the way I thought it would!) I enjoy the psychological aspects of her novels that I've read.

Awaiting my third flight of the day, I spotted this gem while walking through the Philadelphia airport! This little free library was surrounded by six wooden chairs. How incredibly cute is this? And what a fabulous idea! So many people read on flights and could probably use extra space in their bag when they're done. (Listening to the audio of this book on my flights and am really liking it so far.)

I almost bailed on this one. I hate when a story is introduced, is somehow completely derailed, and completely changes course. Somehow this went from killer may be my sperm donor, to suing people, to teacher turned detective. Never liked the mc and she got more annoying and nonsensical. Not for me
