An aspiring suspense author finds herself writing mysteries by day and solving them by night in the second Writers Apprentice Mystery by the author of A Dark and Stormy Murder and the Undercover Dish Mysteries. In the quaint town of Blue Lake, Indiana, Lena London is settling into her dream job, but someone is making her life a nightmare Things are beginning to go right for Lena. Shes got a new job assisting suspense novelist and friend, Camilla Graham. She lives rent-free in Camillas beautiful, Gothic house. She even has a handsome new boyfriend, Sam West. After being under attack by the media and his neighbors, Sam has recently been cleared of suspicion for murder. Journalists and townsfolk alike are remorseful, and one blogger would even like to apologize to him in person. But when shes found dead behind Sams house, Lena must dodge paparazzi as she unravels the many mysteries that threaten to darken the skies of her little town and her newfound love with Sam.

I just listened to part 2 in the series. It winds up a few of the mysteries from the first, but it adds many more for the third. The reader was kept much more on edge in this one. Every other page was an allusion of foreboding foreshadowing, which is too much for me. I would call this between a pick and so-so, so I'll round up. ?

Belinda the "research witch" is my favorite new character; I would love to be a super-searcher! ?

Juno still had a few more days in her cone. As I noticed with other reviews for this cozy, it wasn‘t as good as the first. I felt like it could have ended, then kept going, could of ended and then kept going again. Then when it finally ended, it seemed so forced for the third novel while one of the other endings would have been just fine.

And Juno in the dark blue cone. My sweet girl scratched her eye so she‘s got to wear the cone for a few days. She‘s pretty bummed so I think we‘ll snuggle up with this cozy.

Although not as fantastic as the first in the series, I still enjoyed this installment of the writers apprentice series. The mystery within a mystery was continued and while the first secondary mystery was solved another one was introduced. Overall, a satisfying cozy!!

Coffee in one hand, cozy mystery in the other. Here's hoping I enjoy book two as much as I did book one.

Good continuation of the story. Unlike many Cozies, this one has a storyline that doesn't make sense if you don't start with the first book. There are individual mysteries as well, though. Can't wait for the next book. Julia Buckley continues to be one of my favorite Cozy authors even though she's new to the genre.
