I couldn‘t sleep the other night, so I went and downloaded this from the library and started reading. This book is VERY GOOD and if you read it to help you fall asleep you will have VERY WEIRD dreams.

I will read LITERALLY ANY western that Erin Bowman writes. And who designed the covers for this and Vengeance Road? They‘re a GENIUS. The audiobook was great.

Horrorstor: A Novel | Grady Hendrix

Haunted house IKEA! Thrills! Chills! Bad decision making! This book is a fun, quick read that will probably satisfy your horror itch but won‘t leave an everlasting mark on your mind. Entirely serviceable!

I absolutely love that so much of this story is framed by Cindy talking to her therapist. It‘s genius, and encouraging.

Currently using this volume as a bookmark for volume one so that should tell you something about how engaging and good the story is. Only small complaint is that the changing art style is a wee bit jarring.

You know when you get something on hold at the library and can‘t for the life of you remember why you put it on hold in the first place but you give it a fighting chance and it turns out to be a fun lil read?

This book was.......fine. And listen, I love old movies and I love crime stories and I love film noir and M was truly the first of its kind AND there are better movies out there. It‘s also fine but why not watch something better?

VERY GOOD and of course beautiful to look at. Dark high fantasy with a matriarchal bent, yes please. I already have vol 2 out from the library.

The magic in this book kicks ass and so do the characters. At a couple parts it felt a bit rushed BUT I loved it. Highly recommend.

I‘ve always liked Shannon Hale and I liked the movie adaptation of this book, so I had decently high expectations and the book was delightful, so I‘d say I recommend it.

Magpie Murders | Anthony Horowitz

Despite a few qualms with questionable motives and very poor decision-making etc, this was an enjoyable read/listen, and of course I love a cozy mystery. And a mystery within a mystery is even better.

This is a memoir of the first two years spent at a residential school in the Arctic. Books like this should be mandatory for all Canadians.

How to Be a Woman | Caitlin Moran
Mehso-so

Caitlin Moran isn‘t perfect and neither is her feminism, but I still quite liked this book. She reads the audio version and it‘s delightful. I‘d suggest reading this and then reading something like I‘m Judging You / Luvvie Ajayi.

Uprooted | Naomi Novik

The audiobook recording of this is delightful. This book filled my need for “kind of a fairy tale retelling, with a woman coming into her power, plus interesting magic, and some creepiness” quite nicely.

The Winter People: A Novel | Jennifer McMahon

I love a small-town-dark-secrets story and this one for the bill. Similar in feel to Wolf Winter / Cecilia Ekback which I highly recommend. I am easily spooked, so this was a daytime read.

It was fine! A little jumpy and disorganized re: the plot, and a few moments where I had to work hard to suspend my disbelief because the characters took a long time to make simple connections and conclusions. But enjoyable all the same.
