Currently using this volume as a bookmark for volume one so that should tell you something about how engaging and good the story is. Only small complaint is that the changing art style is a wee bit jarring.

When I see a strong Asian female protagonist, I'm still giddy with excitement. When I was younger, those images were so far and few between. But never would my awkward teenage self have imagined there would be an Asian superhero! And now there are several! I'll have more time to read this week so I plan on starting this asap. #femalesuperhero #marchintoreading
@RealLifeReading

RealLifeReading Ooh I've not heard of this before!!! I mean I was already excited when Shadow Hero came out but this is an Asian female superhero. Even better! 7y
silentrequiem Have you read Raven the Pirate Princess? It's glorious! She first appears in Vol 3 of Princeless, also glorious. Highly recommend both titles. 7y
angrylilasian @RealLifeReading I love Shadow Hero! 7y
angrylilasian @silentrequiem I hadn't heard of either of these!! But they're on Hoopla so now they've moved up on my TBR. Thanks! 😄 7y

Silk vol 0

I've also adored Spider-Man as one of my earlier comic book heroes. So, also as an Asian-American woman, how can I pass up a comic book hero featuring an Asian-American female Spider-Man? Simple. I can't 😆

Her name is Silk. And yes, she's a friend of Spider-Man. She is not without damage, but it only makes her smarter and pretty bad-ass 😉 The story is not perfect, but it's a fun read 👍

Female artists on this for my #womenincomics challenge. This one is great and well deserves to be as popular as squirrel girl et all! The cover doesn't convey quite how much fun this character is, it looks more serious than some of the lady fronted comics by marvel. Story is solid and I want to know more. In love with this one #weneeddiversecomics

Laura317 Sounds intriguing. Stacked! 7y
literarymermaid I love her! I even saw ine cosplayer as her at Comicon and was so excited! I def recommend checking out this one and the other two lovely ladies in it. 7y
Weaponxgirl @StoredFeminism Jessica spider woman has been on my hit list for ages! Love her whenever she turns up in captain marvel comics. New fan of cindi, gonna devour the next volume as soon as possible 7y

literarymermaid @Weaponxgirl I haven't gotten into Captain Marvel yet. I didn't know they cross over but now I' going to have to add her to my list too. I read volume 1 but it wasn't as fun as some of the others I was reading so I kinda puf it out of my head. Gotta drag it back. 7y
Weaponxgirl @StoredFeminism spider woman and captain marvel are best friends and it's been a huge source of pleasure to me whenever they appear in comics together. Really supportive of each other and just great to see. I remember one volume of captain marvel really making me giggle so she's worth giving a shot imo 7y
literarymermaid She does appear in Spider-Woman's first volume, so I had seen it, but only recently. I'm still wading into comics and don't have a good history on the established characters but I had gotten so excited when all the new women were coming out a few years ago that I grabbed them all. Now I have to gi back and learn the ones that were always there. 7y
Weaponxgirl @StoredFeminism the new women fronted announcement got me excited too and I'm still working through them myself. So far spidergwen has been the only one I've found iffy, the first volume was kinda messy even though I liked her character. 7y
literarymermaid @Weaponxgirl Me too. I couldnt get into hers but after reading Spider-Women, I think it may have been more of her alt-universe that I had an issue with. I like the new women, but I was a little turned off by the plethora of white blondes still, so I didn't latch on to her, Captain Marvel or Thor very well. I will say that Thor's second volume was so good and I am now looking forward to her story. 7y
Weaponxgirl @StoredFeminism I can totally understand that. I only got into captain marvel after bitch planet and realising they were by the same author. As I keep saying in my reviews on her, that character has had the crappiest writing done to her and I was not a fan for a long time. Any character that has a conversation with iron man though that has her going "I do love starwars and I do love punching things" gets a second chance 7y
literarymermaid Absolutely. I was originally reconsidering based on how much fun it was to have her as bestie in Shifting Gears. 7y
Weaponxgirl @StoredFeminism you've made me push spider woman up my tbr list. Next payday if not in the library it's a done deal 7y

InLibrisVeritas I loved this one as well! 7y
literarymermaid I love her too! This is one of the few comics that my son and I read together. He just loved it. I saw a great cosplay of her at the Baltimore comic-con but only one and there werent even costumes available at Halloween. I was so disappointed. I'd love to see her get more notoriety 7y

Love love love!!! This is what I was hoping Spider Gwen would be. It's well written, has some pretty fantastic art, AND Cindy is an awesome character. I haven't read any of the Spider-Verse arc but I caught on to the story pretty quickly (unlike with Gwen) and it stayed pretty fluid all the way though. Definitely looking forward to the next volume. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

maximoffs Love the Spider Females tbh 8y
InLibrisVeritas @steverogers I'm starting too, I'm trying to figure out why I haven't added them to my pull list. I love Spidey, but somehow I always overlook their comics. 8y

So far I'm loving this and I need more! ❤️ (Variant cover art to avoid spoiler)

BookFreakOut Variants like this are so cute! The adorable art was basically the whole reason I bought the Baby Avengers vs X-men. 8y
InLibrisVeritas @BookFreakOut I've bought a few of his variant covers for Thor: God of Thunder. Too cute to pass up. 8y

4🌟🌟🌟🌟 I absolutely loved this fist installment. I have a serious crush on Silk. She is comical and quippy but sentimental and strong. The artwork is fantastic. It did change in 3/7 of the issues and that pissed me off but it was tolerable. Some of the inner dialogue was a little spoon fed as well but overall I really enjoyed it.

Oh man, I'm so obsessed. This is definitely in strong rivalry with squirrel girl for my favorite comic top spot. Motored through these and have been left so hungry for more. I definitely prefer Stacey Lee's art but the story was so compelling that I wasn't distracted by the difference in styles.
