Silk, Volume 1: Sinister
Silk, Volume 1: Sinister | Robbie Thompson
7 posts | 15 read | 2 to read
Silk is back and badder than ever! Cindy Moon - the other victim of the radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker - has been working to find the missing members of her family since she escaped the bunker that was her home for so many years. But Silk's quest has taken her down a darker path than expected, and now she's in cahoots with the most ferocious feline in the Marvel Universe: the Black Cat! But not everyone in the Cat's criminal crew is happy about the arrangement. Nor is a certain friendly neighborhood CEO of Parker Industries, and that will take Cindy into battle with Spider-Man and the Goblin King! What could have led her to this? And will she go so far that there is no redeeming the Sinister Silk? COLLECTING: Silk 1-6, Amazing Spider-Man 1 (Silk story)

Silk volume 1

I finished this one on the train ride up to Seattle. It was excellent. I‘m looking forward to the second volume, but am also sad that there will never be a third volume due to cancellation 😞

C‘est la vie.

Look!!! I got my Silk sweater in the mail 😍😍😍 this makes Marvel's cancellation of the series about 2% less terrible but it's still 98% awful so. #boomarvel #yaysilk!!!!!!

DivineDiana Cancellation of the series? 7y
queerbookreader @DivineDiana Yeah they canceled this solo series of hers 7y
DivineDiana Missed that? What network? I am going to see if I can find past episodes. Love your sweater! 7y

queerbookreader @DivineDiana Omg no comic series, not tv series!! 7y
queerbookreader @DivineDiana She has had a solo comic series written by Robbie Thompson and it's 4 collected trades long. It got canceled by Marvel back in May (along with their Hellcat series by Kate Leth which was sooooo good) 7y
queerbookreader @DivineDiana here's the first book in her series. Check your library for it maybe? 7y
Cinfhen That shirt 🙌🏻😍 7y
DivineDiana @thequeerspiderwoman Oh my! 😳 Thank you for information! 👍🏻 7y
Johanna414 Have you seen the BookRiot article about how Marvel has been so craptastic lately? 7y
queerbookreader @Johanna414 No but I probably wrote it 🙄 marvel has been trash for a while now 7y
Serotonin Whaaaaaaaaatttt?!!! Seriously?? I was just getting into too! I really like vol 0, and haven't yet ordered vol 1. How disappointing 😥 7y
moranadatter It was canceled!? 😩 Love the sweater though! 7y
queerbookreader @Serotonin @moranadatter Yes seriously 😭 cancellation was announced with the Patsy Walker comic series. Soooooo sad. And I don't get it cos the Spider-Gwen series is still going...but it hasn't progressed at all in two trades. They have been terrible. But Silk gets cancelled?? And I heard rumors that Dennis Hopeless' Spider-Woman series got canceled? Ugh 7y
moranadatter I found out Hellcat was canceled on my birthday. I read very few Marvel series because they keep canceling the ones I like. I would be excited about the new Storm series by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Jen Bartel if I weren‘t so afraid it‘ll be canceled after a handful of issues because Marvel. 7y
queerbookreader @moranadatter I am willing to set myself up for heartbreak because I love all the writers & artists that make the comics I love. Choosing not to read a series out of fear of it being cancelled seems like it'll only set it up for cancellation more quickly, especially if a lot of people do that, ya feel 7y
moranadatter Huh? I wouldn‘t choose not to read something because I‘m afraid of it being canceled. Oh, I see why you interpreted it that way. They were two separate thoughts. I don‘t read many Marvel series because they keep canceling the ones I like and I don‘t get as excited for new series because of their past behavior. I still buy the ones I like. 7y
queerbookreader @moranadatter Oooooooookay I gotcha I gotcha. Yeah and then they keep redoing the same kind of groups and characters over and over......I don't want another Avengers series??? I don't want another Peter Parker Spider-Man series?? I don't want another X-Men series!! Give me good solo characters!! I'm keeping every finger and toe crossed that they won't cancel the newest She-Hulk series after the second trade LIKE THEY DID HER LAST SERIES. 7y
moranadatter I‘m not really a fan of the group books either, but it‘s the frequent crossover events that drive me crazy. If I‘m reading Ms. Marvel, I‘m not interested in having her story interrupted several times because the Universe is ending or Captain Marvel has lost her mind. 7y
queerbookreader @moranadatter 🙄🙄🙄 the second Captain Marvel left Kelly Sue's hands was the second she got fucked up as a character. I stopped Ms. Marvel after the fifth trade cos I just could not handle seeing everything ruined by CW2. And I stopped Captain Marvel's run by Tara Butters after only the first trade cos after is when it got involved with CW2. Marvel just needs to chill on universe wide events for a while or maybe forever 7y

Finally meeting back up with Silk after a few months apart 💜 be sure to read vol. 0 (The Life and Times of Cindy Moon) of this comic BEFORE you read this one!! It has her whole background story!

literarymermaid I love her! She's one that could use some merchandising, in my opinion. At least a t-shirt! I'd wear it under my Spider-Woman jacket! Okay, I'd wear it without the jacket, but that's not the point. Have you read this one? She's plays a great part in it. 7y
queerbookreader @StoredFeminism NO I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet and I can't read any new comics in those three characters individual series until I find this one! Grrrrr 7y
literarymermaid @lemonlime799 Yeah, the timing can be awkward sometimes. I don't read Spider-Gwen, but I got these in the right order. Now I just have to catch up with their individual series again 7y

Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. There were some really great moments and I enjoyed the story arc.

Spent money I shouldn't have at the comic store... Not feeling that bad about it. 🕷❤️

readinginthedark Here's betting I like this better than Spider-Man! 8y
sarahgreatlove @readinginthedark 😊👍🏻 start with vol.0, the story makes a lot more sense when you read from the start. Spider-Man does feature a little here and there but Silk is definitely my favorite! 🕷 8y
readinginthedark @sarahgreatlove Thanks! I would have assumed this was the first one. :) 8y
