Okay, so I usually don‘t love romances. That being said, I really loved this one. It was fun and quirky and I actually liked the main characters and their banter.

I‘m loving the witty banter in this one!
It also helps that the main character loves literature and works in a university library. Apparently, I‘ve been really into romance novels lately… 📚

I wanted so badly to love this book. It‘s my friend‘s favourite book and I‘ve heard excellent things for years. However, I found that for me, nothing really happened. It was slow and then when I realized what the insidious element was, it kind of fell flat to be honest.

Clare-Dragonfly I‘m so glad I‘m not the only person this fell flat for. I hear such great things and I really wanted to like it more. 1y

Just starting this one, but so far, I‘m really liking it!

Librariana I stopped this one early on because I needed to read for the September buddy read (still not done with that one either, but that's how I roll!) 🤣😁😊 Point being, I was really enjoying this one, too!! I love the premise and knowing that the author's father recently passed away (and that she thinks of this work as semi-autobiographical), really gives this an added sense of sentimentality/wonder/magic 💜 2y
Mirazzles @Librariana I do the same thing, I‘m currently reading about 17 books. I can‘t help it haha 😂 I didn‘t know that about the reader but I do think it adds some magic! My father died and reading the author say her father was only 73 made me think of my father. He was 71. I think this author captures the sentimentality beautifully! I think I‘ll love this book and probably cry haha. I hope you enjoy it too! 😊 2y

This is my first Nordic noir book. It is also the first crime book I‘ve read that takes place in Iceland. I have to say that I quite enjoyed it. I thought the author did a great job weaving the story together and giving enough information and left things up for interpretation. There are a few questions I have that aren‘t answered but that‘s kind of the beauty of this book!

So far, I‘m really enjoying this one! I must say this is my first delve into the Nordic noir genre and I am really pleased. It‘s quite atmospheric and the characters are dynamic but I also don‘t feel like I‘m getting too many unnecessary personal details about them.

So I am trying to improve my French (I‘ve moved into an area where it is the primary language) and I am trying to read more in French and understand and enjoy the stories. I am finding that difficult because I don‘t want to only read children‘s books. Haha if any one has any suggestions I‘d love to know 😊

Ruthiella I suggest trying a. Magazines and other short format writing in a subject you are interested in and b. an adult book in French that you‘ve already read in your native language. Try to pick something fairly straightforward. Also, watching TV or films in French is very helpful because you have the added context. 2y
Mirazzles @Ruthiella I‘ll look into some magazines! I am also looking into maybe finding a book I like that I‘ve read already in English and see how it goes! (edited) 2y
