“...the secret of the Great Stories is that they have no secrets. The Great Stories are the ones you have heard and want to hear again. The ones you can enter anywhere and inhabit comfortably. They don‘t deceive you with thrills and trick endings. They don‘t surprise you with the unforeseen. They are as familiar as the house you live in. Or the smell of your lover‘s skin.”
Beautifully written. Must read!

I wasn‘t so sure about this book. There were moments which I loved and others I found such cliche. That being said .. there were lots of quotes in the book I liked. Still watched the movie - because you know .. Julia Roberts 😬👌

This was such a random read for me, but am I glad I found this book! It‘s about human kindness, friendship, love, commitment. Harold takes us on a journey, literally .. but also a journey of emotions. Harold has some interesting and wonderful encounters on his way. A story of an ordinary man leading an ordinary life but on an extraordinary journey.

Not a fan of Twilight but I must say this story had a lot of potential - ignoring the cliche young girl/older guy love story! The emotions/pain the ‘soul‘ and ‘body‘ went through was captivating enough for me. It‘s an easy read, nothing extraordinary. Sappy but loved this quote - “It's not the face, but the expressions on it. It's not the voice, but what you say. It's not how you look in that body, but the thing you do with it. You are beautiful.”

I started reading this because the word wallflower caught my attention. I really like that word, but I am not sure about this book. I can‘t make up my mind. I might have to read this again.

FeatherV I haven‘t read this, I watched the movie and loved it, I definitely plan on reading the book at some point, maybe you just aren‘t in the right place to read it right now? I‘d give it a year or two and try again if you couldn‘t make up your mind on it 6y
Sushi111 @FeatherV No I agree, I read it a while ago. I will definitely read it again. I know so many people who loved it! 6y

I needed a light read and this one was perfect. Easy to get through and thrilling enough that you‘ll finish reading in no time. I read this on my daily train journeys (hilarious!). This story has everyone you need, a cheater, a liar and a drunk 😵. I would like to say this book was amazing but I wish the culprit wasn‘t so obvious. Worth a read and I can‘t help but look out of the train at houses now - forever traumatized 😁🙊

I mean who hasn‘t read HP right? If you haven‘t, why?! I can still remember the disappointment I felt when I realized I wasn‘t getting a letter from Hogwarts. I loved magic and fairytales growing up, needless to say I fell in love with the world of Harry Potter! This muggle still hopes her owl got lost in delivery. Read all the books like a nerd I am. Still looking for that perfect HP book collection to buy.

Christine11 I so want a beautiful collection too 😊💕 6y
Amelie I would like to buy the illustrated ones for my kids; waiting for my son to be old enough.... 6y

All time favourite. Old fashioned but it is a classic. A story of times past. The March sisters were well crafted characters and made me wish I grew up with them. Definitely a sympathetic book and may not appeal to all but it is a book I always recommend. Maybe it‘s because I miss home so much but this book takes me back to fond memories! Love love love.

RaimeyGallant Definitely a good one. :) And a belated welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you're interested. :) 6y

I don‘t think I have read a book faster than this one. Atticus is probably one of my favorite characters. He is the ultimate father, a hero! Falling into Scout‘s world gives me that little faith in humanity which lets face it, is so easy to lose these days.

DivineDiana Agree. Brave yet gentle, strong and kind, intelligent and down to earth. An ideal man. 6y

I can still remember the poem I learned about Ms.Havisham in English class thinking that is one of the most tragic characters I have ever come across. There is however so much density in that character, more than just a women in her bridal dress. The lost/rotten love hits you right in the heart! The book is a little hard to get into but once you figure out the characters, you‘ll have no trouble investing your time into them. Read read read.

No book has made me cry as much as this one! My heart! Get the tissues ready for this one. So beautiful and heartbreaking. “For you, a thousand times over” I can‘t even type it without it pulling at my heartstrings! I think I went through all the emotions possible, love, hate, horror, sadness.. I can go on. It is disturbing at times, I had to literally take a break from crying at this one. Oh dear! That being said, it is so moving.
