I just finished this book. This was actually the first time reading this book. It came out in 99, so I had probably moved away from her books by then. I know I had started reading Tolkien in 99, thanks to my stepdad. I enjoyed reading this book. I felt the topics in the book was with the time period at the time. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

Unbearably tense story about two brothers, Jonah, 16, and Simon, 14, who have left home for Arizona where they hope they will be reunited with their older brother, Matt, who has been fighting in the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, they get picked up by Mitch and Lilly and things start to go horribly wrong. I really liked the main characters and their predicament was nail biting.

This book was horrible. It was sloppy and rushed at the end; there were too many things that didn‘t go together. Voodoo shared with a white woman, astral projection, demons, St. Teresa of Avila, and Salem. You can‘t throw all that together and expect it to work! A really bad quick read.

Here are the best books I've read each month, I can say with confidence that I know what my book of the year is going to be, I've read it twice this year and it's really stuck with me. But we have to wait to see what December brings!
