I just finished this forgettable fantasy. I am surprised I didn‘t enjoy it at all since it was on a recommended list by Adam Silvera and I see there are others that loved it. Does that ever happen to you?

I really liked this conclusion to the iron fey series. I loved the final battle, except maybe for certain parts of the ending. Although some parts of the ending some part of me knew were coming.

BookishGirl06 Side note: I still have a few novellas in this story left to read but other than that I‘ll be caught up with this series for now. 3d
annkuch13 Would you recommend this series? Is it the same kind of feel as Holly Black's books? 2d
BookishGirl06 @annkuch13 i would recommend and I haven‘t read Holly Black yet 2d
annkuch13 @BookishGirl06 Thanks! I'll definitely add these to my list. 😊 2d

3.5/5

Okay I definitely need to reread this. My brain kept checking out.

Honestly, I don't think the plot was particularly unique. It's definitely been written before. It's the setting and characters which were really the strength and truly the best part! It was a pretty enjoyable standalone that I didn't think was too ambitious but also too surface. For a debut and a standalone, it didn't fall into a lot of pits I find many debuts do.

Happy National Book Lover's Day! Today, I set up our TBR shelf in the library/reading nook in our new apartment. I told my husband there's still room for more. 😂😜

I love the collegiate feel of Oden's Ford, where all the young people in this novel go to study. Each has its own specialism and the university, one by one, draws each of them in, forcing the protagonists into close proximity.

This was a YA that felt very young. The main characters acted like teens - short sighted, temperamental, and illogically. I didn‘t totally get into the world building.

This book was just okay for me. I really liked the beginning, but after a while, the writing started to grate me a little bit. Not enough to not finish, but I found the last pages I skimmed more than actually read.

The Exiled Queen | Cinda Williams Chima

“Maybe he wanted to work her hard enough to wear her down, to make her give up the idea of hiding among the warrior cadets at Wien House. His idea was that she'd stay in the temple close, cloistered with the dedicates, gardening and reading and studying healing and doing needlework with the speakers.“
