Couple of copy-editing errors in my copy, but an interesting, detail-filled story! The Signal Corps women's experiences were totally new to me. #historicalfiction

Wolf Hollow features a girl who befriends a reclusive WWI veteran who is misunderstood in his community.
War Stories takes a boy and his great-grandfather back to France to be honored for his heroism, but the memories aren't all good. Deftly exposes the reality and grey areas of war.
The Unsung Hero of Birdsong, USA contrasts a celebrated white veteran and an unsung black veteran. Gently tells a story of injustice.

This story had so much potential! Unfortunately, although clearly meticulously researched I feel the author got too caught up in the details which led to the storyline being somewhat sloggy. I admit to skimming at points as I wanted a story not a textbook read.

3.5/5 rating: This was meticulously researched, no doubt about it, but way more telling than showing. I got bogged down in the details 🫠😵‍💫 I found myself skimming a lot. It also made it difficult for me to keep up and remember what was going on with the 3 main characters. I found myself within 5 pages of a new chapter saying, “Wait, who is this?” I‘d suggest #BorrowNotBuy on this one, I don‘t think it‘s a re-read worthy book

Pickpick

Malala Yousafzai, the youngest person to be a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, fought for the rights of girls to pursue education in Pakistan. She continues to advocate for change in the treatment of women, refugees and marginalized persons throughout the world.
This book is by the father of this amazing woman, as he reflects on the time raising her and her brothers. I‘ve never cried so hard in a prologue.
