mom2bugnbee Random thing that happened this morning - my right handed 15yo daughter was cutting a loaf of bread with her left hand. When I asked her why, she said that she always has used the knife in her left hand, because she simply didn't see the point of switching hands as most Americans do. FIFTEEN YEARS and I've never noticed 3y
Lcsmcat @mom2bugnbee That‘s priceless! I‘ve never switched, but that‘s because I‘m left handed. 3y
mom2bugnbee @Lcsmcat Yes,my husband is left handed & he doesn't switch either. 3y

This was a lot harder than I anticipated. Lol.

@Whimsical.Curiosity your turn. You've been MIA for a bit.

WhatThePuck 21) my kids were calling my mom "Momo" before Stephen King stole it for Doctor Sleep. 5y
Whimsical.Curiosity @WhatThePuck wheeeeeewwww alright, I'll give it a try. Sleeping 11 hours a day leaves little room for anything else lol 5y
WhatThePuck @Whimsical.Curiosity I slept a lot too. Lol. 5y

britt_brooke I‘m from Kentucky (and still consider it home though I left when I was 20), but haven‘t been to the derby either. I‘ve been to Churchill a couple of times for other races. 5y
WhatThePuck @britt_brooke I've been on Oaks day numerous times. I live 3 miles from the track most of my life. My grandparents have owner's passes from a horse they had in the 80's. 🤣 But, I've never gone to Derby. If rather do a Derby party. 5y
britt_brooke @WhatThePuck Too funny, but I completely understand. Oaks day would be fun, but derby day seems a bit too crazy for me. We went for the Breeder‘s Cup one year and that was crowded enough for me (and that‘s without the bonkers infield party). 5y
readordierachel "Momo" is what my daughter calls Elmo ? 5y
WhatThePuck @readordierachel ours is Mom- O. 5y
Kaye Good to meet you ♥️ 5y
readordierachel @WhatThePuck Ahhhhh, that makes sense 5y
Whimsical.Curiosity I love my shout out! Also so indecisive. Your crazy soccer mom shows and I love it 💕 5y
WhatThePuck @kaye 🤗🤗💗 5y
WhatThePuck @Whimsical.Curiosity If you are going to yell things at the kids on the field you should at least know the rules. My biggest pet peeve and I will tell you when you're wrong. Lol. The most common mistake "Johnny! You're offsides!" Me: "Karen, you can't be offside, singular, on a throw in" #snob 5y

Women, Autobiography, Theory: A Reader | Sidonie Smith, Julia Watson

I actually wrote my Master's thesis on women's autobiographies and the memoir boom, and I love the literary theory behind self-told stories SO MUCH. Hearing 'biography' and 'autobiography' used interchangeably is probably my snobbiest pet peeve, but I am totally okay with the blurring lines between 'autobiography' and 'memoir.' #readjanuary #autobiography #snob

LeahBergen It is such a peeve of mine, too. Shhhh... 😀 7y
shelf-improvement @LeahBergen The only thing that bothers me as much is when people call a non-fiction book a novel. I am such a book snob (but I try to keep my tongue bitten!) 7y
Ellen Thanks for this! I was actually just wondering about the distinction between #memoir and #autobiography and if librarians/academics/editors care 7y

shelf-improvement @Ellen A memoir is more literary in style while an autobiography is more fact-based (and might get fact-checked). Memoirs usually focus on just a specific aspect of a life, whereas autobiography is the whole shebang. But the definitions are growing more fuzzy as memoirs have grown in popularity. 7y
Ellen Excellent distinction, thanks! 👍 7y
shelf-improvement @Ellen I think memoir has become a more marketable term so people are using it to describe books that would've been called an autobiography thirty years ago. Also, more people are writing their life stories at a younger age and the term memoir suggests that their story isn't done yet. 7y
