Well written! I think I prefer this author‘s more suspenseful romance, but this book was certainly tugging on my heartstrings. I teared up at several points. The redemption arcs are well done. The way the characters grow throughout the novel is beautiful and made sense to me. If you enjoy contemporary inspirational romance, then give it a try. #cleanread #inspirational #romance

I just started this one last night and am already enjoying it. Susan May Warren usually does a good job and I can‘t wait to see how this story unfolds. #currentlyreading #woundedhero #inspirational #romance

This character study set in a small town is both devastating and hopeful. It is a quiet read, one giving the reader access to the secrets and sorrows of the lives of those living in Dalton. Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2024/10/review-road-to-dalton-by-shannon-bowring...

Deblovestoread I just saw this. So excited! 7mo
tpixie @mcctrish @CSeydel @Deblovestoread I thought I‘d read Book 2 closer to book 3. I read too many books so I have a harder time remembering them. I think when I was younger, after I read a book I thought about it a lot more, which helped me remember them plus, I didn‘t read as many! 7mo
Chelsea.Poole Ooh thanks for the post! I read book two but I didn‘t love it as much as the first one. I‘ll probably stick with it and see what happens in the third. 7mo
tpixie @Chelsea.Poole hopefully the third will be a satisfying read! 7mo
CSeydel Oh yeah that makes sense 7mo
GatheringBooks Ooh! Thank you so much for sharing and for the tag! I already have book 2, and will now pre-order book 3. 7mo
CBee @tpixie oooo book 3!! I need to get to #2 soon. 7mo
BarbaraBB I had no idea there would be a third book! I still need to read the second one and fortunately it‘s my April #Roll100 book! 7mo
squirrelbrain Like most others, I haven‘t read book 2 yet. #toomanybookstoolittletime 7mo
tpixie @BarbaraBB that works out nicely! 💙🩵💙 7mo
tpixie @squirrelbrain me either. If I do I‘ll read it right before the 3rd. Otherwise, it may just heighten my Mount TBR!! ⛰️ 7mo
Lesliereadsalot Can‘t wait! I love these characters. 7mo
tpixie @Lesliereadsalot yes! It kind of reminds me of this author that also writes about a community 7mo
Lesliereadsalot Will definitely look into her books! 7mo
CSeydel Checked it out today from Libby 📖📲 7mo

A delightful little collection of essays and columns that were published on a weekly basis over the course of many years in Chris Bohjalian‘s local newspaper in Vermont. The columns are reflections on the unique idiosyncrasies of life in a small town while also recognizing its place in the larger world around it. I thoroughly enjoyed Bohjalian‘s nonfiction voice.

Continuing the countdown of my books, from 1st to 25th, THE JACKAL‘S MISTRESS. Today it‘s my 9th book, Idyll Banter from 2003. This was a collection of my favorite columns from my first ten years writing "Idyll Banter," a newspaper column that ran every Sunday in the Burlington Free Press, as well as some of my favorite longer essays I wrote for the Boston Globe Magazine, Reader's Digest, and other magazines.

Suet624 I‘ve got to find this one! I didn‘t know about it. 8mo

@CSeydel my heart is full of so many emotions after reading this beautiful book. I loved every minute of it. I wish I could write more but I‘m really just basking in this feeling that will without a doubt develop into a book hangover. Thank you for putting this on your list! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ #auldlangspine #ALSpine @monalyisha

#12booksof2024 @Andrew65

This is a quietly powerful novel in stories following the residents of a small Maine town, their secret hopes and fears, the ordinariness of their daily lives and their major turning points. Beautiful read and my second of the year that I owe to #Europacollective

CBee I meant to tell you that I asked for this for Christmas and got it 😊👏🏻 10mo
Lesliereadsalot Don‘t miss the sequel Where the Forest Meets the River. 10mo
CSeydel @CBee Yay! 10mo

For a quarter century, I wrote a weekly column for the Burlington Free Press called “Idyll Banter.” Right now, the ebook collecting the best of the first ten years is on sale for $1.99. Treat yourself!

marleed Oh how fun. I‘ll do just that! 10mo
Amiable I just bought this yesterday! Looking forward to reading it. My husband and I love Vermont—his mom lived in the Northeast Kingdom near Jay Peak for 25 years. 10mo
ChrisBohjalian @marleed Awwww, thank you! 10mo

Recommended by a bookseller at Galena Book and Paper, she said it was one of the best books she had read recently and one of the owner's recent favorites. I hadn't heard of it yet, but it was too good of a recommendation to pass up. It's a quiet novel about the residents of a small-town in Maine and a reminder of the complex lives people lead behind their public faces. Beautifully written! I will read whatever this debut author puts out next.

sarahbarnes A sequel to this one just came out! 12mo
Lesliereadsalot I loved these two books, the characters are so real. You‘ll love the second one too. 12mo
