23/22 It took me less than 24 hours to finish this 11 hour audio book 😳 I listened every second I got and just loved it. One of those rare mysteries where I was not too bothered about what had actually happened because I just wanted to stay with the characters in there lovely little town. I have dived straight into the next book but really must stop listening now and get some sleep!! Read for #booked2022 #setinacanadianprovince 4⭐️

BarbaraTheBibliophage I really want to start reading her. 1mo
Cinfhen That‘s the best type of recommendation!!! Must try this series!!! 1mo
Magpiegem @BarbaraTheBibliophage & @Cinfhen definitely give her a go. This book had a lot more depth then the average cosy mystery… I‘m not sure you would even count this as cosy but they do talk about hot chocolate and cosy fires A LOT 😂 so it has a hint of cosy about it! 1mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Magpiegem Haha. Right now as summer starts here, hot chocolate is not on my mind at all! 1mo

Second in the Gamache series, and it counts for #setinacanadianprovince for #booked2022. Kind of an obvious choice for that one 😂 I did enjoy it, but it‘s a bit more “cozy” and I usually prefer my murder mysteries to be a bit more on the edge of the seat. I‘d still like to finish the series, as Armand Gamache is one of my favorite book characters ♥️

Cinfhen Glad it worked for #Booked22 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 1mo
Amiable I love this series. 😍 1mo
CBee @Amiable I‘d heard it starts a bit slower and gets better with each book. I think I was having a weird week because it was a slow read for some reason 🤷‍♀️ 1mo

Amiable @CBee It definitely gets better as it goes. For me, the individual mysteries themselves are less of a draw than the overarching narrative that slowly reveals itself throughout the course of the series. 1mo
CBee @Amiable I definitely want to keep reading them! Have you read the entire series? 1mo
Amiable @CBee All the ones she‘s written so far, yes! 🙂 1mo
CBee @Amiable well, I‘ve discovered that they‘re on Kindle Unlimited, at least through book 6 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1mo

This really is a beautiful book. Although it isn‘t big on plot, I was very interested to see what would become of each of the well-developed characters. Liam, a 30-something man, arrives back in Solace and meets Clara, a young girl going through something big and they form a bond. An episode from Liam‘s past is slowly revealed by Mrs. Orchard, a neighbor he had a special bond with as a child. I teared up multiple times throughout this quiet novel.

BarbaraBB I still need to read this one too. 2mo
Cinfhen It‘s on my TBR too @BarbaraBB Glad to hear it‘s a winner 🌸 2mo

It took all I had not to stay up and finish this one last night. So, I had to finish it this morning!

Without going into too much detail, as this builds on so much that has happened in the Gamache series, this has to be one of my favorites thus far in the series. So much emotion is conveyed in Penny‘s writing, and so many built up layers fall into place. She really could have ended the series with this one, but we all know it continues!

Librarybelle My progress for #AwesomeApril - depending upon how the day goes, I may just meet my 20 hour goal by the end of today! @Andrew65 2mo
Librarybelle I‘m also using this for the #Revenge prompt for #YeahBaby #BBRC - there are definite elements of revenge that have grown throughout the series and culminate in this one. @LibrarianRyan 2mo
Cinfhen Yay!!! Good find 2mo

I tried to read this book last year but hibernated it. Tried again tonight but ended up skimming to the end. Should have bailed but it fulfils lots of prompts! 2 🌟

This started slow for me and I almost put it down. I'm glad I stuck with it because I ended up really liking the story. #Booked2022 #SetInACanadianProvince @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage

Run Towards the Danger | Sarah Polley

Sarah said she never wanted to act, but instead write, and she has written six very thoughtful essays about the perils of being a child actor, assault in the pre-me too era, motherhood and difficult birth, and having a life-altering head injury. Her essays about acting were hard to read. I loved watching her as a kid, and I was sorry to read how much trauma the experience caused. It‘s not a pity party but a considered look at employing minors. ⬇️

Megabooks ⭐️⭐️ I recommend this more than any celebrity book I‘ve read in the last year. Really fantastic. ⭐️⭐️ #SetInACanadianProvince #Booked2022 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft 4mo

Anna40 My life without me is the movie that comes to my mind when I see her name. I thought it was brilliant, I didn‘t know she‘s been an actress this long. She has turned to directing, hasn‘t she? I will definitely check her essays out. Sorry to hear she had to deal with so much. Great review 💕 4mo
Megabooks @vlwelser it‘s wonderful! Definitely recommend the audio. 👍🏻 4mo
Megabooks @Hooked_on_books definitely in your wheelhouse. 👍🏻 4mo
Megabooks @Anna40 yes, she mostly writes and directs now. She was a well known actor as a kid because of the Anne of Green Gables adaptation she starred in for years and she talks in the book about what turned her off to acting and made her want to do more bts stuff. 4mo

Tamra @TrishB 💜 sometimes an author just grabs you and there isn‘t an easy way to explain it. 5mo
TrishB @Cinfhen there is a bit more of a story in Crow Lake than this one. 5mo
TrishB @Tamra definitely not- just go with it! 5mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage New author to me … glad to see all the positive reviews! Thanks! 5mo
