This book is great for reading to kids are nervous about starting school for the first time. This story is heartwarming and beautiful. The illustrations used in the story are outstanding. They look more like sketches. All of the pages have illustration colors from edge to edge. The colors used are neutral and settle not too overwhelming. The color used for each page makes the animals look real and alive on the page.
This week we suddenly lost my husband‘s father. It‘s a devastating blow to our family, but also because of the bonds and connections he created we have the support system in place to get us through. My friend‘s sister (a child psychiatrist) recommended these books for our boys. They are so lucky (as all of us are) to have had the 7 years they had with him. We will work to honor his memory and keep him alive in our hearts.
This is about a raccoon named Chester who is scared of starting Kindergarten and being away from home. He doesn't know what to expect or what is to come and that terrifies him. His mother reassures him that he will make friends, learn new things and have so much fun while at school and he hopes to do just that.
It is just as lovely for the 100th reread as it was the first time I read it - 15 years ago on the eve of my eldest daughter's first day of school. Sweet memories!!! #BBRC letter k @LibrarianRyan

Chester‘s mother then gives him a kiss on his hand and tells him that whenever he misses her, he can press that hand to his cheek and it will be like she is there to give him a kiss. This book would do best as a
