#Naturalitsy

"I have often thought that much of the beauty that moves us in the natural world is not the static visual splendour that can be captured in a picture, but time itself as patterns, recurrences, the rhythmic passage of days and seasons and years, the lunar cycle and the tides, birth and death."

My first book by Rebecca Solnit for this month's #Backlistreadathon @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks

Searching through my TBR for this prompt I was reminded of this series. I really like MC Mallory. I need to pick up where I left off some day.

I liked the slow pace of this book, how the narrative slowly spooled out from inside the main character‘s head. It felt like a really unique way to see the world, and I really liked it. It‘s made me consider writing in first person more myself, which is the way that comes easiest to me, I suppose. It‘s interesting that the country he spent most of the book in is never identified. It could be one of several different countries.

I really liked this one quite a bit. This is my second book by this author, and I‘m already looking forward to the next one. I really like her writing style. This book was written in first person, and I liked having the internal monologue of the main character. This book is slow-paced and very much focused on his internal life, his rambling thoughts. If you‘re looking for a book with a quick plot, look elsewhere. Otherwise, enjoy this one! 4 stars

Tamra Sounds like my kind of read! 😊 2y

I meant to read this before the Orwell prizes were announced but health hasn‘t been great so it‘s been lying beside my bed for many weeks. Started the first couple of chapters and so far really enjoying it! Nature and memoir together is a huge love of mine 🌹

A lovely book! A amalgamation of biography, horticultural history, political genealogy, and a celebration of beauty. This is a book that nourishes the soul.
