Little Women | Louisa M. Alcott
post image

There are some hairstyles that are repeated and reinvented throughout history (1940s Victory Roll, anyone?), but there are others you only see in photos from a certain era, never to be repeated. Happy birthday anyway, Louisa May Alcott. I'd like to see fashionista Amy try to pull this off. #lazyphotochallenge

CoffeeAndABook 😂😂😂👍🏻 7y

Rose In Bloom | Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May Alcott was one of my favorite authors growing up, and I cherish my collection of her books. This seems a very Litsy appropriate quote to share in recognition of her birthday today.

Sharing one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes for his birthday! Additionally, I haven't read many biographies of Lewis, but I did enjoy this one.

EnidBiteEm 😍 7y
Libby1 I don't have this one, but I have another one by McGrath about Lewis called Deep Magic, Dragons and Talking Mice. 7y
Daisey @Libby1 I haven't heard of that one; I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the recommendation! 7y

Happy birthday CS Lewis. 👸🏼🦁❄️🚪🚂🛤#lazyphotochallenge

Marchpane Ok, I'm gonna go check my wardrobe, brb! 7y
Marchpane Oh hey, I'm back, did you miss me? Just spent 20 years as a benevolent dictator of a fantasy realm. Had to depose a heinous witch to seize power, but after that those woodland creatures handed me the keys to the kingdom. I guess I just created a massive power vacuum by walking out on them, huh? Oh well. What's for tea? 7y

I'll Give You the Sun | Jandy Nelson
post image
Pickpick

Happy birthday to the oh-so-poetic Jandy Nelson. Reviewers have described her characters as so alive 'they glow in the dark' and able to 'fly into your heart'. True. This book, and The Sky Is Everywhere, are colourful, joyful, and intense even when the characters are in despair. Nelson's imagery is gorgeous. #lazyphotochallenge #ya #yalit

Still Alice | Lisa Genova
post image
Pickpick

#happybirthday Lisa Genova. A professor of linguistics is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease and struggles to articulate her experiences, as her husband avoids the reality of Alice's rapid decline (as Alice's high intellectual capacity causes her to create, perhaps unwittingly, inventive compensatory measures, by the time of diagnosis there is already significant deterioration). Genova blends brain science and empathy seamlessly 😢

readinginthedark I love this book so much. It perfectly encapsulated Alice's experience. 7y

#BookNDinner a la @MrBook and @BookBabe 😁 - Venison and beef chili with celery, zucchini, squash, garlic, bell peppers, carrots, onion and beans. It doesn't photograph well but it tastes delicious. And white wine (not from a box!!). 🙃

Also, Happy Birthday, Margaret Atwood! This book is amazing. I plan to finish it this weekend. #lazyphotochallenge @EnidBiteEm

How easy would it be, if a bunch of sexist men were in power, to reduce women's freedoms one law at a time ... no credit cards, no bank accounts, no property, no birth control, no right to vote ... oh, WAIT. 😱😳 The issues in this novel are timeless, but in no way preachy. Offred's first person narrative is spell-binding, and her story no less relevant today 😡I LOVE MARGARET ATWOOD. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KWEEN 👑#lazyphotochallenge

quirkyreader I like the new cover. It has a Bansky(sp?) feel to it. 7y
Zelma I agree with everyone else on loving that cover. 😍 7y
EnidBiteEm @Theresa @quirkyreader @Zelma It's a 30 year (Australian) anniversary cover. It says 'Vintage Atwood' across the top, and has a beautiful red spine with white lettering that looks great on my white bookshelves 😂 7y
