I‘m 20 years into my fascination of movies and books set in India. (It started when my 12yo daughter and I discovered Netflix Bollywood dvds.). I‘m humbled by the culture, history, and religions so unknown to me. Reading Shalini discover Kashmir was interesting and heartbreaking. Heartbreaking because we are not all built with the intestinal fortitude to become the person we truly want to be.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Also, have you ever watched Bride and Prejudice? It was a fun Bollywood twist on the story that my sister and I really enjoyed. 2w

After Kalyani's mother dies, she sets out for a Himalayan village in Kashmir. Certain that her mother's death is connected to the decade-old disappearance of Bashir Ahmed, a charming Kashmiri salesman, Kalyani decides to confront him.
The characters didn't stay with me, but there were some moments, some scenes that did. The writing was good. I also loved the character development and how plot unfolded. Was a little underwhelming though.

The romantic plot was a bit eye-rolling and obvious, and the supporting characters felt one-dimensional, but I loved the Irish village setting and the magical realism element. This was my #ReadOrDonate pick for March. Definitely donating it.

Another #Afrikaans read for me...
I struggled a bit with the writing style and pacing of this one. At times nothing seems to happen, and the everything happens all at once.
I would however be interested in reading more of Venter's work, as it was so different form the usual Mystery/Romance I'm used to.

Another riveting compilation of shot stories each showing us a bit more of the man behind the white hare and wolf medallion.

I especially enjoyed the last two stories, but I'm bais because I love Ciri. I adore her feisty sprite and determination.

I am however now more than ready to be done with the short stories and be immersed in a full length novel
