pickA dreamy meditation on wilderness, art, the environment, and the hidden beings and places that haunt the world. An indictment of our treatment of nature, the story is angry and wistful in turns — but ultimately lands in a place of hope. Not my favourite of De Lint‘s works by far, somehow lacking the ethereal magic that usually flavours his writing, but I enjoyed it. And you cannot beat Brian Froud for adding beauty, mystery, and a bit of sly fun.
I kind of love the idea of responsibility being the breaking point, and causing a whirlwind of chaos rather than solving it...

pickWhat a weird, strange, fascinating book. Diary entries of a girl who collects fairies by squishing them between the pages of her book, like pressing flowers. Lots of illustrations of squished fairies, so you‘ll need a good sense of humour! Captivating all the same!

Terry Jones, who was famously known as a bringer of joy as a part of Monty Python's Flying Circus, but who also was the author of several books, has died.
