A sweet, clean romance and a charmingly wonderful story about Milwaukee and the food scene that truly makes me want to go back again. A perfect summer read.

Dragon I bought this one at a booksale because I liked the cover so I‘m glad to hear it‘s a good book 👍😀🐉 3mo
Loric @Dragon I was a bit worried because I had been given the book The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake from a friend and it was soo sad. My daughter gave me this and I held off on reading because I thought it was going to be similar... and was pleasantly surprised 🤗 (edited) 3mo
Dragon I‘ll have to move it up my tbr pile 👍😀🐉 2mo

Light and fluffy and just what the doctor ordered. Romance is no longer my go to genre but every once in a while you need some brain candy. The two main characters were charming and the supporting cast was absolutely adorable. Otto and Gertrude came very close to stealing the show in my opinion.

My only complaint was the narrators voice when doing Al - the male main character. A little too high pitched. Otherwise a solid pick in my eyes.

1. Eggs, bacon, and either toast or biscuits
2. I never understood the combination of fish and chicken places. Like, half Long John Silver and half KFC? Nope.
3. Yes
4. I know they have like knockoff flavors, but if Girl Scouts wanted to partner with someone to make Thin Mint flavored ice cream, I wouldn‘t complain! 😋

1️⃣ Crèpes with an assortiment of fillings. Pancakes will do in a pinch too. I have that maybe three times a year.
2️⃣ In hindsight, the "Chinese" restaurants of my childhood. Orientalism and coloured corn syrop, basically.
3️⃣ If alone, yes, of course.
4️⃣ I'll let you on a little secret, if you can think of it, it exists, somewhere on this planet.

tournevis @sudi Sweet-salty-sour, it was interesting. 4mo
sudi @tournevis i'll cut out the ham and just have the gruyere and apples 😂 4mo
tournevis @sudi It's good without ham too. Or replace gruyère with brie. Is gooooood. 4mo
sudi @tournevis i'm going to try that this weekend 🙌 4mo
tournevis @sudi 👍👍👍👍 4mo
Eggs #2 🤣🤣🤣 4mo
tournevis @Eggs I mean, 1970s North America, outside of NY and SF, wasn't known for "authentic" Chinese, you know? 4mo

A predictable romance done well is always a delight and that is what you get with this book. Two charming main characters with a lovable supporting cast and lots of yummy food descriptions ❤️ I‘m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Food is very #BiginJapan & here are some foodish books I've enjoyed. When I first traveled there in the late 90s I was introduced to author Banana Yoshimoto & Harumi Kurihara (considered the "Martha Stewart of Japan). I'm a fan of Iron Chef Morimoto & recently read the quirky Convenience Store Woman. The tagged book is an old favorite about a woman who goes to Kyoto to study kaiseki-the art of cooking food for tea ceremonies. ???

Cinfhen This post\collage makes me sooooo happy 😊 nice having you back 💜💜💜 5mo
BarbaraBB All seem fantastic! 5mo
DebinHawaii @Cinfhen Aww... thank you! 🤗😘I have missed you and this as well & hope to stay the course. 😉It's a bit tough to try to jump back in after being so sporadically involved the past several months. I feel like I have missed a lot on Litsy. 5mo
