This bookstore crawl was such an incredible event for Indianapolis! In four days I visited 19 of the participating 23 independent stores. It was an absolute delight! I met up with friends and took my kids to some throughout the crawl. We talked with other participants and owners of the stores, and everyone was blown away by the response from the community. Such an incredible weekend! It filled my heart to see how our city supported this event!

janeycanuck I‘m so jealous you have 23 indies in your city. What a lovely event to enjoy! 1mo
AvidReader25 @janeycanuck About 5 years ago there were only a few. 😳 There‘s been a huge surge since then, and I‘m so grateful! 1mo

I stopped in at Toys R Us today and was delighted to find they‘ve expanded their books selection to include lots of material for older teenagers and adults! Some of the genre divisions don‘t make sense (for example, there‘s a weird amount of non-romance on the romance shelf), but whoever their purchaser is brought a lot of diverse books into the fold alongside the uber-popular stuff like Brandon Sanderson and Sarah J. Maas.

Aimeesue That‘s quite a mix! 1mo
xicanti @Aimeesue I hope it does well! They‘ve got a vinyl section now, too. 1mo
Aimeesue @xicanti Oh wow! Glad they‘re expanding their wares. I would‘ve passed up the toys for this section when I was a kid 😃 1mo

This is quite an interesting book. It‘s non-fiction and was written by a man who traveled to the area in British Columbia known as the Great Bear Rainforest. He went there to talk to people who have seen Sasquatch, hoping, of course, to see one himself. But the book is about more than that, it‘s also a glimpse into the lives of the First Nation tribes who live there. Wonderful writing.

Was looking for my next read and pulled these two seeing as the temps plummeted and we‘re experiencing bone chilling winds too - a “winter” themed book might be best? Two Canadian authors - I figure they would know how to write about winter? 🤭 #CanLit

I'm in love with this book. It had everything I love and want in a story. Outstanding. Great character development and twists and turns. Fabulous. A must read 💗💜

There were charming moments, but there was a lot more hard realities of being a landlady who wanted to paint, (the part that skewers the Victoria art scene snobs didn't last long enough) for twenty years starting in 1913. Carr is as flawed as her tenants, and subject to the attitudes of the time: scandalized by unmarried couples, underwear hanging to dry on a front window curtain rod, etc. 1/2

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 As it turns out, there were also 50 pages about breeding English Bobtails. I'll warn the fellow animal lovers/vegans: there are a number of heartbreaking passages.
⚠️animal death, animal cruelty, period typical misogyny/heteronormativy/ableism, outdated/offensive terminology, classism
