batsy That's a good point! It's interesting how memory works differently according to one's personality. I guess Iris was the conciliatory one when they were younger, and either naive or willing to be fooled (by people). It's like a lot of Iris' present anger/resentment stems from her realisation of how much she was wrong. Laura strikes me as a tragic Cassandra figure who could "see" too much. 7y

Wholesale ripping off @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 's post format--sorry! But I loved the idea of adding to this investigation board together. I'm looking for clues about Sabrina, though I've read much father ahead and haven't seen anything more... 😆 Still--there does seem to be a very important captive-princess metaphor going on here and now that Sabrina is also connected to that, it may add to our understanding in the future.

Since I started this week's reading, I've been attempting to investigate Sabrina and what on earth happened to her and her mother! Or at the very least to look into how Iris describes her and what that may tell us about Laura or Iris herself. Here, Iris compares Sabrina to Laura twice:

"her grave eyes blue as Laura's"
...
"She takes after Laura in that respect: the same tendency towards absolutism..."
