pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Million Junes was a haunting tale layered in magical realism. The word "earthy" comes to mind after reading it. Which maybe makes sense to someone whose read it ??♀️it was deeper than I expected, exploring loss and family ties. There was insta-love, but it's done in tasteful YA fashion. Highly recommend, the writing is beautiful and fresh and the story is both chilling and warm. #amillionjunes (or jacks, juniors, whatever.)
I didn't realize A Million Junes would be deep and slightly heart wrenching. I expected "fluffy" but at 50% I'm getting more than I expected out of the story. There BETTER be a happy ending. This book took me entirely by surprise! As a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, I expected melodrama and a laughably avoidable tragedy. What I got was a heartbreaking look into the effects of long term grief and loss, set in a world filled with mysterious magic and well rounded characters, and a sweet romance to top the cake! I highly recommend this gorgeous book.
