Mehso-so

This book would serve much better as a reference book. I skimmed through a lot to find stories that were appealing. Still a lot of interesting stories of the earlier years of this part of the country.

The Three Witches | Zora Neale Hurston, Joyce Carol Thomas

Pickpick

I liked this old, black folk tale adapted for children from a series of oral folktales collected by Zora Neale Hurston. The illustrations are perfectly suited to the story. I would love to track down and listen to the original collected by Hurston.

Bookdragon69 I‘ve never read the book but I saw the movie for the first time at the age of 13 and it scared the living daylights out of me. 😱 5y
Wellreadhead I‘ve never seen any of the movies. (edited) 5y

Many of these are still on my #TBR list (including the tagged book). Not shown are several I have enjoyed; they're missing because my husband is reading them. We have a thing for #FablesandFolklore, fairy tales, myths and legends. #UncannyOctober

RealBooks4ever Great selection right there! 😻 7y

#fairytales #americanfolklore #mythsandlegends This book is beautifully illustrated, with depictions of characters spanning over 100 years, illustrations showing different interpretations. I've had this for over 10 years and love going through it at this time of year also great is The Penguin Dictionary of American Folklore 📚❤️

readinginthedark I've never heard of that Penguin Dictionary! That sounds awesome! 7y
TheLondonBookworm I'd love a copy of this! Everywhere I travel to I try and find some copy of local myths/legends/ fairytales what ever is on offer! 7y

DeborahSmall @TheLondonBookworm I think I bought this when I was home in Glasgow one weekend 👍🏼 @readinginthedark I bought the dictionary at the best indie bookstore in Belfast, No Alibis, he specialises in crime, noir particularly and also diverse American lit and anything he can find on America that's different 😊. Also a huge range of Neil Gaiman. So my favourite place in Belfast 📚❤️ 7y
readinginthedark @DeborahSmall Wow! That sounds awesome; I've never been to Ireland! 7y
