The Daughter of Time | Josephine Tey

@Librarybelle is celebrating her #Thankful40K litfluence with a giveaway and has asked us to show her our favourite mystery.

A hospitalized, bed-ridden inspector sets out to discover the truth about Richard III and the murdered “Princes in the Tower”. I read this years and years ago and think it might be time for a reread!

Congrats, @Librarybelle ! 🎉🎉🎉

And thanks again to @rubyslippersreads for this amazing bookmark. ❤️

Melissa_J Great pick! And I looove the bookmark 😍 6y
Libby1 Perfect bookmark for that book. Have you read any non-fiction about R3? I really enjoyed The King‘s Grace, about the search for his remains. Oddly, Philippa Langley isn‘t listed as author here on the listing. 6y
TheKidUpstairs Oooh, that sounds good! Stacked! 6y

Nearly impossible to choose my favorite mystery, but Tana French‘s first book is a contender. #thankful40k @Librarybelle

vivastory So, so good. I can't wait for the BBC adaptation. Did you catch the episode of Book Riot's mystery podcast Read or Dead back in October dedicated to Tana French? 6y
tomes4gnomes @vivastory I had no idea a BBC adaptation was in the works! Hopefully it will make it to the US in a timely manner. Thanks for the podcast recommendation! 👍 6y

I would have to say this is my favorite mystery. It kept me guessing until the last couple chapters and the ending was satisfying. Thank you @Librarybelle for the chance to with another Agatha Christie book. And congrats on reaching 40k!! 💜 #thankful40k

Librarybelle Thank you! And a good choice! I adore Christie. 6y
PerksOfBeingABookworm @Librarybelle me too! I can't believe it's taken me this long to start reading her. Did you watch the movie that just came out? I'm hoping to find a time to see it soon. 6y

Thanks for the generous giveaway @Librarybelle ! My favorite mystery is also my favorite mystery series. I love the English setting of the books and Flavia is a favorite character. She is smart, clever sassy and dabbles in poison.

Librarybelle Thank you! I read this one a couple years ago and adore Flavia! Hope to get back to the series one of these days... 6y
mrp27 @Librarybelle I hope you do, Flavia is a hoot! 6y

Rebecca (Special) | Daphne Du Maurier
post image

For me, the best mystery novels blend various genres into one eminently satisfying whole. My absolute favourite is DuMaurier's Rebecca. The first time I tried to read it, I was spending a month apartment sitting an empty apartment, with only a mattress on the floor for furniture. I found the eerie, gothic tone too much for the circumstances. But I picked it up again years later and absolutely loved it.

#thankful40k @Librarybelle

Librarybelle Thank you! I read this years ago, and I think I‘m due for a reread. 6y
swatreads I love it so much?? "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again." Epic opening line.? 6y
RadicalReader @TheKidUpstairs if only the wonderful library would be able to get a hold of it via inter library loan or hopefully order it cannot wait to check out this highly praised novel 6y

Congratulations @Librarybelle 🎉🎉
I wanted to share these mysteries that I read this year! Aunty Lee‘s Delights is a cozy mystery by an author from Singapore. The Shape of Water is a mystery set in Sicily and translated from Italian. Both are the first of a series and include descriptions of food!
