After cleaning pretty much the whole house, I deserve coffee + some reading time.
But before reading, here's a short review for tagged and pictured book: I still very much enjoy this series. The 3rd book is quite entertaining, I like keeping on learning about art, about Japanese art school systems. Plus, love to see the progress of the main character. It's really great to see the main character's journey and resilience.

Certainly cute but almost…awkward? Like it seemed sexualized somehow. Certainly highlights the ways in which cats are good for your health. No plot, really. Just cuteness overload.

Vol 4 out of 6, but so far there are no publishing dates for the last German volumes. I have a bad feeling about this...

This series is the one that tells me I'm not quite out of the manga genre. It speaks mostly through the artwork and shows us a dystopian world, that isn't quite that dystopian.

In this volume the girls learn about what humans are capable of doing. Like building weapons and destroying whole cities.

I actually preferred this book over the first one in the series. I still like the concept of including art pieces made by actual artists. And it's a fun way to learn about art techniques. It's also nice to follow the progression of the main character.

I really wanted to like it, but a lot of the humor and jokes went right over my head. Best part was the cat 🐈‍⬛

I can‘t stand Yuri, but volume five was as great as the previous ones! I‘m also not a fan of Nightfall, but I‘m intrigued to see how that plot line plays out. I definitely laughed out loud several times while reading this book and I look forward to the next one!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5/5)

Volume one was simple and filled with humor, however there was a lot of jokes that I didn‘t get and therefore took away some of my enjoyment of the book.

4.25 ⭐️

This was so stinking adorable. I couldn‘t stop reading out moments with Fukumaru to my boyfriend and pointing out the little illustrations. I also appreciated the underlining battles with grief from the man and almost depression from Fukumaru. I can‘t wait to continue in the series.

I‘m trying to read more graphic novels and magna books. This was a fun read and I‘m looking forward to continuing the series.

Every Thursday I will be posting about a book, or short story, I love that I have either never posted about or have not posted about in a long time. For my first entry for #ThorsDayRec is Stålenhag's sui generis work Tales From The Loop. I have seen this categorized under: Graphic Novel, Sci-Fi, Art Books, Fiction. Set in the 80s, TFL tells of a town with both decommissioned & sentient machines. There's a meandering narrative woven into (cont)

vivastory incredible artwork. TFL is like Stranger Things meets Dark. I def plan on checking out Stålenhag's other work!
(PS: If you have recommendations, please post!)

BarbaraBB Sounds pretty obscure and I like that 2mo
Bette His book, Electric State has been getting buzz since Netflix, sounds like the book is preferable. 2mo
vivastory @BarbaraBB There's been a board game & a tv show of his work but it seems like his books are the lesser known when you Google him 2mo
vivastory @Bette I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on the adaptations. Seems like most of the Netflix book adaptation lately have been misses 2mo
