Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The Illustrated Edition | J. K. Rowling

Last time I read this I hadn‘t been sorted yet. I‘m not sure you could even be sorted yet, at that point. I always fancied myself a Gryffindor because of my red hair. I was actually a little disappointed when I was first sorted into Ravenclaw, but then everyone in my grad classes were all in Ravenclaw, too, so then I was happy about it.

GingerAntics @Scochrane26 I‘ve heard it said that they‘re the party house! We all go hang out with you guys, because you‘re the fun/cool kids. Being so bookish, it seems odd you wouldn‘t be Ravenclaw. Hm. 4y

Scochrane26 @GingerAntics I‘ve thought way too much about this. I love books & am intelligent, but I don‘t think I would get past the riddles at the ravenclaw entrance. My Pottermore result was Hufflepuff-i am a mental health therapist, & am loyal (too loyal at times). One of my friends is also a therapist but she‘s ravenclaw, & the difference is she‘s less loyal & more savvy about when to move jobs. She helped me a lot with my last job change. 4y

@Scochrane26 I don't think it's possible to be all one thing; there have to be loyal Ravenclaws and brave Slytherins. Maybe it just matters what you identify as? Or what comes through most? 4y

Scochrane26 @Linsy @GingerAntics The way I‘ve heard it explained is that we have all the traits in us, but it‘s what we value most that decides the house. I‘ve also heard someone‘s theory that it‘s the trait we need to work on most (Hermione was already smart but needed to work on bravery), but I don‘t think that‘s a good explanation. Some days I feel more daring or intelligent. Very rarely do I feel like a slytherin 😂 4y

GingerAntics @Scochrane26 that would certainly explain Neville. 😂 I‘ve heard the hat can see even the hidden parts of yourself, so you‘re put in the house that fits your potential. @Linsy 4y

Scochrane26 @GingerAntics That makes sense, too. At 11, you‘re still developing your character & personality, so it‘s hard to know how someone will end up. Of course, the sorting hat knows everything. 4y

Harry Potter 1 and the Philosopher's Stone | J.K. Rowling

It's only been in the last few years that I've really enjoyed the Harry Potter series. I read this one when it came out, and it was way too young or me so I didn't bother with the rest. Now I can just enjoy it for the fun story, and series, it is.
I picked this one as I can kinda switch my brain off a bit, and complete it in one day.

Handmaid's Tale | Margaret Atwood

1. RAVENCLAW
2. I always tried, but some of them were just not happening.
3. Night, Timeline, or Ender‘s Game
4. Grapes of Wrath (never made it past about a 1/4 of that book no matter how hard I tried...even the movie put me to sleep when we watched it in class)
5. 1984, Animal Farm, or Handmaid‘s Tale (never would have happened in my High School though)

GingerAntics @Mandigolightly I enjoyed Animal Farm. It‘s a nice quick read. My district (my state) wouldn‘t have allowed any of the above. Anything that might encourage questioning authority or suggest that a religious leader could be wrong would never be allowed. They might get tennis elbow paddling people from the mere suggesting of such a thing. 🙄 6y

Last 6 of 12 books for the month. LOTS of good reads overall, but my number one favorite was definitely the All Souls Trilogy! I can‘t get the story out of my head, and plan to start a reread tonight even though I just finished them on Thursday!
