Oh, gosh. This might have been the headline I read when I burst into real tears at the terrible news that Patrick Swayze was dying. I thought I had already known he was sick, but the thought of a five week timeline really made me cry.

Tabloids should be ashamed of themselves.

After re-watching Dirty Dancing and a couple docs about Patrick Swayze I realized I hadn't read this yet. Unfortunately, I didn't come away loving him any more. Still respect the work, still love the movies, but he's really just a guy. He worked really hard at whatever he did, but based on his description of himself I don't know if I would have liked him as a person. #29-2022

#nfn21 Started this audiobook while on a road trip for a work workshop. #TIL that Patrick Swayze was a professional ballet dancer. He had just gained the position of principal dancer for a tour and would be doing shows with Mikhail Baryshnikov when he stopped. A knee injury from high-school was just too much to deal with on a daily basis.

This almost borderlined as a “so-so”. Not the best memoir I‘ve read, but still quite enjoyable as I learned a lot and had no idea Swayze was so multi-talented. I think it would‘ve been better had there not been so many references to his wife throughout. I get that he loved her and all, but sometimes it was a bit much. Makes me sad that he was gone too soon. 😢
