Great road trip listen! I‘ve always liked Colin Jost on SNL — even when most people panned him. I loved getting a glimpse into what led him to where he is today as well as some interesting SNL BTS tidbits. I laughed out loud a lot, but the chapter about his mom made me cry. Can‘t wait to see the pictures in the physical book when I get home.

This is packed full of information and includes numerous short personal anecdotes. It also includes a balance of details from different perspectives including students, family, and staff. However, it is written in a very straightforward report style and does not elaborate on any of the personal stories.

Audio duration: 8 hours 14 minutes

If you‘re looking for dirty laundry, lies, and little secrets, find another book to read. If you could use a well-told story of a loving family, hard work and perseverance, and a genuine appreciation for all that has been given and earned, look no further. To me, it is refreshing to have tales of healthy professional and personal relationships! I‘m so glad that I chose it as my new release from Libro.fm. I loved it from beginning to end! #librofm

Megabooks I just put this on hold at the library. 4w

This is another Educator #ALC choice from Libro.fm that I think might be better in print because of the illustrations. However, even without those, it is a wonderful collection of short biographies of influential and interesting Africans. I recognized some of the names but learned something new about all of the people described.

Daisey Since I have a three day weekend, I figured I might as well keep track of time for #20in4 this weekend as well. Along with my earlier reading and listening today, finishing this brought me to just over 5 hours for today. 1mo

Although as an adult, a few minor details didn‘t quite work for me, this is a great #MiddleGrade story that addresses the Holocaust, the KKK, family history, social media influences, middle school choices, and second chances. Gordon Korman makes all of it work in an interesting and mostly realistic way.

Daisey @megnews It was! Gordan Korman is pretty much an auto buy author for my class library, so I was happy to have the opportunity to listen to this one before adding it to my shelves. 1mo

I listened to both Tim Madigan‘s original book and the version for young readers adapted by Hilary Beard. This was an event in U.S. history I had heard of but knew nothing about. The original includes more details about the violence and harsher language. Beard‘s adaptation leaves out mentions of prostitution and some violent gore, but it still clearly describes the horror of the event. She also includes additional African American perspective.

Daisey YRE #ALC received through #Librofm Educator program. Audio duration of YRE is 7 hours 15 minutes & duration of original is 10 hours 5 minutes. Both editions are narrated by Bill Andrew Quinn. (edited) 3mo
megnews Had not even heard about this. Thanks!! 3mo

I finished listening to this adaptation for young readers today, and I was either sad or angry throughout most of it. I felt it left some of my questions unanswered, and I‘m also curious about differences between it and the original after reading some reviews of each. So, I‘m downloading the original from the library and waiting to officially review until I listen to both.

This grew on me. I really loved Normal People, but for probably the first half of this I was thinking that it would perhaps not be a pick for me. I‘m not sure that anything about it changed in the second half or it was more just my mood/circumstances, but by the end I was really attached to the characters and invested in their outcomes. I enjoyed the (many, many) musings about society and beauty and identity and more. I do love the way she writes.

Christine Thanks to #librofm #alc program for the early access! :) 4mo

Although this book‘s target audience is parents, much of the discussion was relevant to my teacher perspective as well. The author focuses on helping kids develop 5 qualities for our increasingly online world: be balanced, informed, inclusive, engaged, and alert. He describes ways to actively promote productive and positive online interaction, often through modeling and developing family norms.
